My son had a lot of fun exploring the Food Groups Play set. The set came with 4 wooden crates with a different food group in every crate- Dairy, Fruits/Veggies, Protein/Meat and Grain. My son loves to manipulate small pieces and as he picked the different foods up, I would tell him what it is. He is just learning to talk and repeat words so he started to identify some of the food. This play set offers many fun learning activities with pretend food. I can just imagine us playing "store" with these cute imitations of food in later years! This set is wonderfully entertaining for my 4-year-old boy and his 1-year-old sister.My son masterfully slices up the bread and veggies and serves us sandwiches.His little sister doesn't know how to use the knife, but she tries waving it and smacking it on the food, and since it is all very sturdy, no harm is done. She is glad to be doing what "big kids" do. I feel that having a play kitchen is good training for the kids, and helps keep them out of my stuff when I'm doing cooking tasks that they can't help with.I'm sure that A.is learning safe knife habits with the dull wooden toy knife, and that when he is older, these habits will help him avoid accidents.The quality is high, there are many different foods, and the price is very reasonable.I would urge many parents to buy this set,but also of course consider getting your kids a wooden play kitchen and some dishes and other implements to go with it.As a final note, we treated the knife and cutting board with a high quality wood oil."..."  Read more

It's even better in person. Well made pizza set. 6 slices that can be cut and shared with provided pizza cutter. Best feature are the small pieces of mushrooms, peppers and pepperoni. My daughter uses them in other recipes too, like she throws them in a pot with other play food and makes a "stew." Love the wood tray that everything comes in. Makes it easy to keep parts together and organize various sets of food. We now have almost all M&D play food, and each set is totally worth it."..."  Read more

My Kids enjoy the cupcake set, especially the oven mitt. The set is a great quality wood toy as are all of the Mellissa and Doug products we own. With the exception of the flimsy paper wrappers, this cupcake set will likely stand up to years of play time. The wrappers look like standard cup cake liners so when they finally bight the dust I am sure I can find some replacements in my baking supplies. We also own the brownies and cookies and this set is a favorite. My kids are drawn to the colorful candles and frosting and enjoy preparing a cupcake with a candle and singing happy birthday to each other. Great toy for hours of fun play."..."  Read more
