Picnic Baskets & Coolers

This bag really caught my eye. It is less like a backpack and more .... stylish. And truly it looked like it might be slightly bigger which I need for my family of 7. I chose the green one and I was surprised by the quality of these bags. They are super heavy duty! The insulated part is nice and thick, which gives the bag it's shape no matter how full it is. So here came the real test.... how many Ziploc divided lunch containers fit inside? 7 boxes! It's true. Exactly seven, with just a little more room. Enough for our whole family to have a nice cool lunch. The fit of the lunch boxes in this bag is a little snug so nothing extra will fit on the sides. Drinks would have to be popped in the very top if there is room. (Of course if you have less than 5 kids and two adults you have to feed then you might have lots of extra room!) There is also no extra room for jackets or towels or much of anything else for my family, but there may be more room for your family. There are two cute little side pockets that would actually hold quite a bit, a camera, sunglasses, cell phone, etc. Then there are 3 flat pockets on the front, two with zippers. One of them is big enough for a full size magazine, or maybe a newspaper. The others are smaller but could easily fit cards, or an ipod or iphone, possibly even an ipad, (which I don't have to try out... but you know, I could imagine). While this one is cute, and it fits all the lunches for our whole family it is not quite as practical 1) it doesn't have much room for extras, 2)doesn't have an easy attachment for a water bottle, 3) since it is not a backpack it might be more difficult to carry if you don't have a stroller, a wagon or a car to cart it around (because it is so cute, you might have a hard time getting hubby to carry this one too.) I can see us using this one in the car for long trips, or on picnics where walking around all day isn't part of the plan. I can also imagine it sitting in a cute wagon being carted around by my kids to our perfect picnic spot at the zoo. BUT I don't have a wagon either so I guess I will just keep dreaming....at least I have a cute stylish bag that I can carry myself. We go away alot of week-ens and stay in a motel and we always carry our wine tote with us can hold 2 bottles of wine and we always take cheese and crackers it also has a cheese cutter board and knife. Take on a picnic too"..."  Read more

I could have bought a cheaper lunch bag that would have lasted only a year or so. Instead, I invested in this Picnic Time bag and I'm very satisfied. It's built and insulated very well. My co-workers laughed when they initially saw the utensils and cloth napkin, but are now envious when they are scavenging for plasticware at lunch time! I spent an inordinate amount of time searching for a lunch cooler that can easily hold any size frozen lunch/dinner. Here's what the description say: Overall Dimensions: 12.5" H x 13.5" W x 8" D (this appears to be the dimensions for the main comparment) Here are the true overall dimensions: 13.5" H x 16.75" W x 9.25" D. I wish they'd have given both dims. I was this close to not ordering this cooler based on the dims they gave. This thing is huge when you look at it for one person's lunch. Aside from this, it's a very nice cooler with plenty of pockets. It's the schoolbag of coolers with all it's nooks and crannies."..."  Read more
