I bought two of these, one is the smallest, and one is the largest. Average of 3 Stars and 5 Stars = 4 Stars. from York, SC on 11/13/2015 – Verified Buyer
I am not sure which of the two dog houses I am reviewing. I gave four stars; the largest dog house sold receives a three star rating, and the smallest receives a five star rating.

Small Dog House - Five Stars. It took less than one hour to put together. The hardest part of this was finding the tools.... The Small Dog House is for the cat on my front porch. I set it down, threww some old towels in it and Precious the Cat investigated immediately. I got up and took the dogs out at 6:00 AM this morning and Precious the Cat was curled up and enjoying the 30 degree morning.

Large Dog House - Three Stars. I unpacked the box and found two critisms. One, the leg protector and leveler was off. The screws that hold it on had been stripped. I rotated it 90 degrees, but in this position there is little wood to screw into. So I glued it down. No big thing. Two, several of the screws the hold the dog house together were over tightened which stresses the wood. There was one peice that was screwed so tightly that the wood was split. This was a greater deal because assembly needed to be stopped and I had to go find my clamp, which is very safely hidden somewhere, and then glue (did I mention that Gorilla Glue is amazing) and clamp the peice. So, it set me back a day, but what the heck, if I had time I would organize my tools.... NOT!

Anyway, not a huge problem. The company should go to pneumatic nail guns that can be set. Screws seem a bit labor intensive and hard to make consistent settings.

Pros: Excellent Value, Good Quality. Easy Assembly, Very Attractive.
Cons: As stated above, the screws were over tightened which split the wood and the screws on the leg protectors were overtightened and stripped the holes.

We bought the Arf dog house for our 90 lb lab. The house was easy to assemble and very sturdy despite a couple of comments that I had read saying the bottom wasn't. We found the house to be quite sound. Our lab has been in and out of the house constantly since we assembled it. We thought it was a good house for the money. We do however have it under our carport versus out in the weather so I can't speak to how it holds up if exposed to the elements. Otherwise, great dog house! We are happy with the purchase!

Best little house from clovis, CA on 03/17/2015 – Verified Buyer
This was perfect for my little dog (about the size of a chihuahua). She fits in just fine plus a little bed. It's kept her warm through the winter since it's up off the ground and she really likes to sleep in it. I would caution those with pets that like to chew; this is a wooden house and your pet may chew up some of the wood like mine did.

Just as pictured and reviewed from Waycross, GA on 10/13/2015 – Verified Buyer
Love this little house! My dog hasn't gone it it yet, but she will once it gets cold. It does smell of cedar when you first get it so let it air out for a day or so before you put the roof on if you have the time. Assembly took about 1/2 an hour and was just as it was described. All of the predrilled holes matched up perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone with a small to medium dog. Even though I bought the large doghouse, I don't think a large dog would fit comfortably inside it. Also, if you have a dog that is very animated, you may want to reinforce the floor with a couple of 2x4's underneath.

Pros: Easy to set up, beautiful design and light. It can be moved if necessary.
Cons: Floor not sturdy enough for a large or animated dog.

Arf Frame Dog House a Hit with our Lab from Sault Sainte Marie, MI on 06/12/2011
We have a chocolate lab who spends all her days outside whether it is summer or winter she simply prefers to be outside running around and playing. I generally have no problem with this except sometimes it gets a little cold int he winter with the snow and everything and then the blaring sun in the summer tends to be too much for her and she seeks shelter from the sun anywhere she can.

I received this dog house and was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to put together. It came in a rather large flat box and at first I thought oh no I have to put this together, I hate putting stuff together when there are a ton of pieces and it takes hours to do so. I opened the box and there was only 9 pieces in total to this dog house to be assembled. It actually took us longer to find a screwdriver in my husbands mess of a garage then it did to put the dog house together.

8 bolts and 12 screws later we had a fully assembled dog house. The first to try it was our three kids who all fit in there together no problem. Once we lured the kids out with the promise of freezies we got Holley, our dog, to give it a try. At first she was unsure of it but as the day wore on she had no problem going into her dog house and hanging out, now she spends a lot of time in there when it gets too hot out and is quite happy with her new home.

The dog house did arrive slightly damaged around the door frame the decorative trim was broken but since it did not actually affect the dog house so I did not bother returning it for a new one.

Adorable product from Cincinnati, OH on 12/13/2015 – Verified Buyer
We purchased this as a Christmas present for our Pomeranian who loves little spaces. We got it to keep in our living room for when he needs time to get away from the craziness of a house with 4 dogs, and it's very cute, so it isn't an eyesore. It's the ideal size for any dog up to about 15 pounds. I could see our pekingese fitting well in it too. Assembly was very easy, but there were quite a few steps. It is sturdy and good quality. I saw these on another website for around $100, and although it's very cute, I wouldn't pay that for it. Although our little boy hasn't gotten it yet since Santa has yet to come, I anticipate him loving it.

WOW! This is really a nice house for the money! from Newport Beach, CA on 09/23/2015 – Verified Buyer
This is a very nice and well planned one room dog house. It went together quite easily in about ten minutes using a Philips screwdriver. I ordered the extra small house and it is the perfect size for my 5 pound Chihuahua. It is well worth the money and I am glad I saw it. I had just bought the potting bench and teak patio set from Wayfair for my balcony. When I saw this and could not resist. All three items coordinate very well.

Pros: Great value, easy assembly, sturdy and attractive
Cons: Wood was a little dry needed a bit of lemon oil

Great dog house, however, smell was overwhelming. from Pineville, LA on 05/20/2015 – Verified Buyer
This is a good wood dog house, however, when I opened the box the chemical smell made me gag. It took about 20 minutes to put together and appears sturdy. The smell took about a week to dissipate and my dog still will not stay in it, but I am sure he will over time.

Pros: Good price and easy to put together.
Cons: Very bad chemical smell.

Very cute from Superior, MT on 01/09/2016 – Verified Buyer
Very cute dog house and very easy to put together myself. The only problem is when I was drilling in the roof the wood splinters around the holes a bit (even though I was very careful not to overtighten the screws). Luckily for me the dog house is going underneath an eave, so the small cracks shouldn't be an issue at all otherwise I would have had to seal them to make it worthwhile.
For an indoor dog house or for a very sheltered area I think this is perfect

looks just like the photo from Temple city, CA on 10/04/2015 – Verified Buyer
It took a couple of hours one Saturday afternoon for my son and I to build this - the instructions aren't the best, the illustrations aren't clear and are confusing.
We couldn't get the roof to sit just right as the plans described- the drill holes were in the wrong places.
So we hammered the roof into place using extra long nails and it looks and works just fine.

Cons: difficult to follow , confusing instructions/illustrations
