Otis, my 65lb English bulldog had outgrown his crate. His previous crate was your typical wire crate with a flimsy removable tray. Because of his compact but stout build, the flimsy tray had to be replaced a couple of times a year due to cracking where the tray rested on the bottom wires of the crate. This got to very expensive so when it was time for a larger crate I started looking for something more durable. The Pet Gear crates are the only ones I found with a blow molded base. It is far superior to the flimsy trays in other crates. Not only does it stand up to Otis but I also don't have to worry about my hardwood floors getting scratched like I did with a wire bottom crate. It did take about a week for him to get used to the sound of the garage door opening and closing. It can make a lot of noise if you don't slide it in & out gently. This is by far the most durable crate on the market."..."  Read more

I am very happy with this crate. My pup stayed in a Pet Gear playpen when I was working, so most of a year. She was able to open the zipper, so I used a diaper pin to secure the two zipper tabs together. Eventually, after scratching every day to get out when I got home, the fabric around the zipper started to give way, but I felt it withstood a lot of abuse. This was the reason I got this particular crate. It is WELL constructed. In this case, my Maltizu only sleeps in it. She fits comfortably for sleeping, but she is as tall as the ex-small crate. There's not much room for stretching, etc, but that makes it cozy for sleeping. (When you're crate training, you don't want it too big or they may find space for a bathroom.) I wouldn't put it to the test by leaving her in it during the day. I think she would manage to either tear it or unzip one of the many zippers. : ) Having said this, I think it would take her a while. Don't leave it unzipped! The zipper is nice and chewy. She broke out of the[...] soft crate immediately. I bought this for my RV, but she sleeps in it at home too. The pad is nice, even though it is different than described. You'll be happy with this crate for a small dog or a well-behaved larger dog."..."  Read more

This is our dog's "home". While it is collapsible for storage purposes, we liked the look of this crate more than a standard metal crate for our new puppy. In particular, I like that it has wheels, as sometimes we want her crate nearby but aren't in the bedroom (where she normally sleeps at night), and the wheels make it easier to move it from room to room. The top and corners are made of a very sturdy plastic, and the grates are metal. We love the top opening (especially great for first thing in the morning--when we need to get her out immediately and don't want her to run out in excitement and have an accident) and the "garage door" like side opening--which we keep open for her to come and go as she pleases during the day. The padding that comes with the crate is kind of flimsy so we purchased the medium sized Snoozzy Comforter Dog Bed (PetsbyWayfair item #PNP1139) for the crate, which fits perfectly. The only complaint is that our puppy is teething and has taken to chewing on the base of the crate. Had we purchased a metal crate we feel that she might not have done this."..."  Read more

This crate is well made and is great for us as we have a small house and we are able to collapse the crate when company comes over for that extra room. The two problems I see is that for a very large dog it may put alot of stress on the product if your dog is an active dog and the clips that hold the back together are very cheap plastic and may break if you are not careful."..."  Read more
