I loop the strap threw the pet harness on our dog and back again to where the other end is hooked, that way strap isn't to long for her to fall or jump out of car seat. She is high enough to look out the window and she can curl up and sleep. Our dog is 8 1/2 lbs and the small size is perfect. when we got it I thought is was going to be to small, but it is just right. Was this helpful? Yes / No

Our little buddy thinks it's the greats thing now that he's use to it. He can lay down and still see out the window.
