Pet Carriers

I used this carrier (the medium size) to bring my cat on the plane when moving cross-country, and it was great. It's lightweight, the side pocket allows enough room for a few essentials like treats, food and brush, and my cat seemed to like the comfy liner in the bottom of the bag. Top and side zipper openings give you a few different options for putting your pet into the bag, and the rigidity of the end panels of the bag keep it from sagging in the middle as some other Sherpa models do. The mesh panels gave the cat the ability to see what was going on, but the one solid side allowed me to turn the bag to shield the cat from being seen by traveling dogs or anything else that might scare him. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that these end panels provide most of the bag's structure, such that if you unzip one of the ends to load your pet, the bag does sag a little in the middle until the end is zipped back up. But this is a minor issue - it doesn't sag too much as long as the other end panel is still zipped to the body. Also, the fact that the center area is collapsible is what allows the bag to fold very flat for easy storage - to store, just unzip both ends, fold down the center part of the bag, fold the end panels on top of the center of the bag and clip them together with the shoulder strap. This is a great pet carrier! It is well made and doesn't look cheap at all. It's practical being made with waterproof materials. There is a very nice sheep skin type removeable pad on the bottom of the inside. It does not look like a pet carrier at all, and you cannot tell there is a dog inside. The mesh sides do not open to allow your dog to stick it's head out, but there is plenty of ventilation. I ordered the small bag and have a 3 1/2 lb dog who fits comfortably. She is able to stand, turn around, as well as lay down. I would say the bag should accomodate up to a 5-6 lb dog. I am 5'2'' and the bag is not bulky nor heavy to carry. I use it to take my large cat to work with me. I also foster kittens & can place 4 in it after feedings. Works great to keep them out of the way when I am on computer. Easy to launder & always looks nice. Comfortable to use & easy to put on & lift off."..."  Read more

Well made carrier with great features. Flatter more square shape is better if you are going to use it as a car seat a lot than the more vertical shape of the backback multifunction carrier. Have not been able to figure out the difference between the 31 Pet Gear and 41 Pet Gear. They appear to be the same and perhaps is just a change in marketing. Color in picture is accurate. and good for a boy dog or anyone that likes blue. A little pricey so try to buy on sale. But they are well made and have good features. You can unzip everything so you have full access to the inside in case you have to clean it. Be sure to use the tether when using as a car seat.
