Cocoon Pet Bike Basket/Travel Carrier
5 stars I only just received this bike basket a few days ago, but so far it's just what I though it would be. We were looking for both a car booster seat and a bike basket for our four-pound Morkie, and I hadI only just received this bike basket a few days ago, but so far it's just what I though it would be. We were looking for both a car booster seat and a bike basket for our four-pound Morkie, and I had overlooked this product for a while. But the options I was finding were either cheap and poorly made, or way too expensive. This product seemed to fit perfectly.
CONSTRUCTION: Very good. not plastic, but nylon fabric and very sturdy. The stitching seems high-quality, too.
AS A BOOSTER SEAT: You need to get the additional piece, a strap (shorter than the provided shoulder strap) with which you hang the basket from the headrest. There is a strap in the back through which you thread the seat's belt buckle: that strap is nice and wide and tough, and appears very firmly stitched on.
AS A BIKE BASKET: Most of the other bike baskets I found were based on fabric loops attached to the handlebars some had additional mechanisms supporting from beneath. None inspired much confidence. This product DID inspire confidence: the KLICKfix bracket seemed very sturdy. I was concerned about getting the bracket onto my bike, but the installation process was simple enough. It attaches VERY firmly, with both screws to tighten the bracket against the handlebars and a cable that loops behind and under the handlebars as additional protection against sagging. It appears VERY secure, and the basket clicks in VERY firmly. Combined with the sturdiness of the basket (and, admittedly, with a very light dog), the system seems very well constructed.
This review may be a bit premature: I haven't gone on a long ride with our Morkie yet, but on some very short experimental rides. She seems to like it a LOT, and after just one ride in the bike she is not at all hesitant to get into the basket in the car or on the bike.
One down note: the clip on the attached safety leash is very sticky, and has been a little bit of a pain to get on. If there is one element that I feel MAY break down over time it is this leash, either with the clip getting stickier or the stitching, eventually, coming loose. Again, very light dog, happy in the basket, this may never become an issue. YMMV.
