It is versatile with two different straps, three different entry ways, side and top ! There's plenty ventilation provided because of the unique side flaps which can be rolled up and held in place with straps. Most of all, I love the wheels, and with the long strap, it makes it so easy to wheel your pet along with you as you walk. It could almost serve as a pet stroller ! I use this carrier to take my cat to the vet ! It is so much easier to take my cat out from my car in the parking lot and into the Vet clinic with this carrier. I can open the door with one hand while wheeling my cat along with the other hand. My cat is a quite a large heavy cat. The top entry makes it easier to put her in it. This carrier made my life much easier. So many strangers have come up to me asking where I got this carrier from. I tell them to google "Wayfair" and "the Sherpa.""..."  Read more

These carriers are great for short trips, including visits to the vet, etc. Because you can open them either at the top or at the end, you have a choice as to how you will get your pet inside. For example, the top opening is great for getting reluctant cats inside, but the opening on the end is good for dogs, who can just walk right in. The carrier is lightweight but sturdy, easy to carry, and easy to get in and out of a car. The only thing I have found is that even the largest carrier isn't quite tall enough. My cat is quite big and has long legs. He can stand when he's in the carrier, but only if he keeps his head level with his body. There is not enough headroom for him to hold his head up normally. Lying down he is fine....plenty of room then, but I probably would not use this carrier on a long trip for a pet at the larger end of the recommended limits."..."  Read more

Just ordered this carrier in black. [...] I got this carrier to carry my 6 lb. chihuahua in. Loved all the storage pockets. I didn't realize it would have so many. Also didn't realize it came with privacy flaps for both ends of the carrier. Both were welcome surprises. Chloe whines when she is put in her hard sided pet taxi for trips to the vet. She has been in her new carrier several times to get used to it and hasn't whined yet. I think she will be much more comfortable in her Sherpa. Full grown she will probably only weigh around 8 lbs. but I went ahead and ordered the medium (up to 16 lbs.) and I think it gives her plenty of room to stand up and turn around. I have been researching soft sided carriers for a while now and think I have found the perfect one for my needs. I was also thrilled with the price. I emailed a question about several carriers and got answers back immediately. GREAT PRODUCT-GREAT PRICE- GREAT SERVICE !!!"..."  Read more

I purchased this backpack carrier for my indoor cat, soon to take her first flight. Although we haven't yet used it for travel we have been acclimating to it by taking short outdoor walks (much to the amusement of my friends and neighbors). My cat weighs 6 lbs., fits perfectly, is able to move around and change positions, and much to my surprise seems quite content. The roll down flap is a great way to add a sense of security and I'm sure we'll use it while traveling. The fact that the carrier converts easily from being carried by the handle, shoulder strap, or backpack straps was a definite factor in making this purchase. It is a well thought-out carrier and we can't wait to fly! The only thing that might possibly be missing is a compartment to carry snacks and a small food/water dish; however, never having traveled with a pet I'm not sure how security would handle such an addition. I've also "slip-covered" the bottom with a soft fabric that can be removed for laundering."..."  Read more
