These hand graters do not need much explanation on how to use them. It is fairly basic. The main thing is to watch your fingers, hands, & knuckles. Microplane graters are very sharp which is what you want, but they can also grate skin. I have many sizes and blade types and use and like them all. In my opinion Microplane is the best. I use them to grate nutmeg pods, hard cheeses, zest, chocolate and anything else that needs to be grated. They may be able to go into the dishwasher, but I do not do so, I just simply wash them in hot soapy water. I don't want to take the chance of the dishwashing soap discoloring the handles.
