Parker House Cherry Hill X-pandable Plasma Entertainment Center with Multimedia Storage - CHE1006TX

This unit is good from afar but far from good. The construction is shoddy, the wood is terrible, the varnish chips/flakes off, the fit & finish is absolutely horrendous. The crown moulding at the top of the unit looks like a child made the cuts and pieced it together. The varnish chips and flakes off. The entire unit is not square or level, and it's not due to our floor or room. The laminated pieces of wood for the doors are not flush. The pull out drawers for CD/DVD do not close completely. I contacted the President of Parker House to voice my issues. He explained they moved production to China in order to lower costs and be more price competitive. Unfortunately this came at the cost of sub-par materials and construction plus the loss of US jobs. Initially the President was willing to replace parts of the unit however after dozens of phone calls, plus sending detailed pictures of the issues, they claimed they didn't understand the problem. Out of pure frustration, we finally gave up. Bottom line, do not buy this unit and do not buy any Parker House products. A shame that a long-time U.S. family-owned company had to ruin their legacy by sourcing overseas.

I am very happy with this purchase [...] assembling and using it. No hesitation to recommend to other people.

I wish I could give Parker House zero stars![...] the wood is not first grade material, the pieces are not level or square, the pieces do not fit well together, the finish scratches VERY easily, the varish has completely chipped off in a few places.The Parker House local sales rep informed me their manufacturing has been moved overseas (China) a few years ago in order to cut costs. The quality of our entertainment center shows they cut A LOT of costs!Each piece came with the necessary hardward plus a marker for touch-ups...we now know why!Trust me, we have been very careful with this unit and everything that has been placed inside however we continue to get more scratches.Bottom line: Good from far, FAR FROM GOOD!!Avoid all Parker House Furniture!! I feel really sorry for the hard working US workers who lost their jobs when this company decided to cut costs and move manufacturing production overseas!

Nice unit, accommodates various TV sizes, plenty of room for my AV equipment. Not fond of the finish, very high-gloss finish. Attracts alot of dust and fingerprints. Quite a large unit, make sure you have enough real estate for this thing. The back panel does not extend all the way down to the TV stand so part of the wall behind the TV is visible. If it was $500 cheaper I would give it two thumbs up but for the high price it's average at best.

Free delivery = 3-4 weeks! Shipped from California and arrived in 5 large boxes with more styrofoam packing than I've ever seen ... took weeks to dispose of all the packing materials. I don't recall seeing the "some assembly required" description on the website but the delivery guys will NOT unpack the unit and assemble it so be prepared to piece it all together.

Excellent product. It fulfilled my expectations, just as described and presented in the website. I had visited several furniture stores, could not find anything that would accomodate my 50" TV. And a local company would charge me 4 times the price I paid on line, for a similar product, custome made. It works great for me. It holds TV, cable box, home theater (speakers inside with special door panel to let sound out), ipod,CD/DVDs, controls,everything in a very elegant design. [...]

The cable thru-hole could have been a little larger. The depth of the cabinet will barely fit my receiver (onkyo SR-805, 19", has to be force in to fit). Other then that it is a beautiful entertainment center. Everyone compliments it and if I upgrade to a larger TV the unit will adjust.
