Multi-functionality, construct, and price a bargain

Unit: stainless steel bowl inside with same composite steamer basket that can hold 16 oz of veggies atop the cooking rice below it. I had mixed in some broiled hamburger once cooking achieved--which took no time at all. No excessive steam eminating from unit like plastic counterparts. Maximum time left on in 'warming' capacity: 36 hrs or else the meat and veggies lose their moistness. Pros: rice does not clump or brown; cooks fast; easy to clean; three-way use; price for value and performance--note I've only used my rice cooker twice so far. Size of unit easy to stow. Cons: I haven't had it long or used it regular enough to rate its durability and sustained performance; 5 cup is smaller inside than expected though more than enough if cooking for two adults and say a child or elder whose portion wouldn't be near as big. Would like to see lid with detachable capacity and steam bucket requires some prying tool in order to pull it out of cooker housing. Spatula useless--too big and flat. Oversized fork and/or deep spoon more functional.
Great rice cooker

The Oyama is a light, compact, no frills rice cooker with just 2 modes -- press down to cook, up to warm. Following advice of other reviewers who say that leaving the steamer basket in is the key to preventing any problems with water bubbly or overflow, my rice cooker performs WONDERFULLY. Using the cup that comes with the cooker, 2 cups take about 20 minutes to cook. However, the rice needs to rest in warm mode for about 10 minutes for it to come out nice and fluffy. The first time I served the rice as soon as it completed cooking, it tasted undercooked, i.e., grainy. Because it's all stainless, we can not expect rice not to stick on the bottom. Soaking for about 20 minutes makes washing a cinch. Even if I have to scrub a little, it still beats eating non-stick coating. Can't recommend it enough. Note: Mom has the 7 cup and loves it.

I chose this rice cooker for the stainless steel interior over the non-stick options I found everywhere else. So far I have used it to cook Basmati brown rice and Farro which both turned out well....I did use just a little olive oil in the bottom to help keep the rice from sticking and cleanup was not bad at all. Good deal and always quick shipping!
Best alternative I've found to minding a pot on the stove

I prefer to make rice in a pan on the stove. But sometimes I need it to cook while I'm not there to monitor the time. So this works, even tho I'd suggest using more water than it calls for. I bought this one because it was the only one I found that did not have non-stick coating or aluminum in contact with food. Pros: No non-stick coating or aluminum in contact with food. Cons: Need to use more water than it calls for.
Nice compact non-stick rice cooker!

This is a basic stainless steel pot rice cooker. It does its job cooking rice and will keep it warm. I have read descriptions that it will keep the rice warm for 24 hours but I have left it on for longer. Apparently it does not have auto turn-off but that is not a concern for me as my other rice cookers didnt have that feature either. My main concern was to avoid the hideous peeling non-stick that most all other rice cookers have. There is some sticking of the rice to the pot but that is the trade-off with avoiding non-stick. I have not experienced any burning of the rice at the bottom, only some drying and light browning after 2 or 3 days. I do stir up the rice after it is cooked to redistribute the moisture. Ive only had this cooker for a few months but so far am satisfied.

Rice starts getting crusty after one day unlike Polytetrafluoroethylene liner pot, but that's the trade off for a chemical free liner. Other than that, I love it.
Wonderful --the best rice cooker

This is the greatest -- love the stainless bowl -- not hard to clean just put water in it when your done with rice and let it sit for an hour or so-- great gift idea!!!

I am happy with this machine. I like the stainless steel insert and it is easy to clean. It cooks the rice just right, which I am particular about as I add different ingredients to the rice before cooking and some machines burn on the bottom. I would recommend this rice cooker.
Just what I wanted

This is just the right size for two people and doesn't take up too much real estate on the countertop. I'm trying out some new whole grains like wheat and quinoa and the cooker makes it easy - just measure and push the start button - don't have to worry about watching the pot so it doesnt burn. Easy to clean.
Nice rice cooker
Nancy from California – Verified Buyer
It was great and works well. It is the perect size. We like that it was steel instead of the non stick coated material which is good thinking of environmental issues and eating healthy. I would suggest to soak the rice before using in the cooker, otherwise the rice will stick to the steel.
