Designer Amy Mescia, of Oscar & Izzy tiles, was born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She worked for nine years in Philadelphia advertising agencies before deciding to open her own studio, Oscar Design Studio, in December of 2009. Her passion was branding, and by 2011, she had branded nearly 20 companies along with designing for larger organizations across the country. In the midst of helping businesses build identities, Amy got the chance of a lifetime: She was asked to design kitchen backsplash tiles for ABC’s highly-rated TV show, Extreme Makeover/Home Edition. Amy's unique style and sense of color, along with her love of retro and Scandinavian art played a large part in her designs. The 45 original designs she created were a hit, so Amy decided to offer her tiles to the public. She forged a relationship with a tile manufacturer, located in Florida, that produces her tiles using the tride-and-true process of heat sublimation. Each tile is hand-pressed which allows for remarkable quality control. Oscar & Izzy designs have created quite a stir in the tile industry, as they have taken a very established process and added a new and innovative look that doesn't exist in the tile world. Amy is proud to say that Oscar & Izzy tiles, from beginning to end, are 100% USA.
