Waste of money, color not expresso from Bolingbrook, IL on 07/08/2013 – Verified Buyer
I read all the reviews on this product and really liked the look of it. IT IS NOT ESPRESSO. It is a charcoal color. When I sent an email to the manufacturer they apologized and admitted it was not espresso but grey. Not a slight hint of brown in the finish, so do not be fooled.

Secondly, I own a small beagle but prefer a bigger cage so I got the large one. My little beagle broke off two of the plastic bars that were designed to keep a large dog inside. This is a dog crate and should (for $200) withstand the elements of a dog. For $200 you would at the very least expect it to keep the dog inside the crate. Not the case. It's a cool looking dog crate (except the color is not what's stated) but if you're willing to risk $200 to see if it works for you then go for it.

FYI the manufacturer and Wayfair will NOT refund your money if your dog breaks out of this cage. In my case (my 20lb beagle) broke the cage the FIRST DAY she was in there.

Inferior product. Imagine buying a red couch and they send you a white one. well now that I look at it, you're right, it is white, not red. How can you get the color wrong on a product and not simply change the name of the color or change the color to be what it is supposed to be. Then to have it break the first time used So imagine sitting on your new couch and it collapses. It's a couch designed for a human to sit in it but when you sat in it the first time it collapsed. So you try to take it back and they say well sorry, if it wasn't damaged when we shipped it then we can't cover it under warranty

They did however send a new door for the crate. So I will need to disassemble and reassemble and then hope this door doesn't break too on my brand new charcoal plastic crate.

I can not in a clear mind recommend this product to any buyer. Maybe good for a cat or stuffed animal house. I would repurchase this product for $25-$35 and then take my chances. But for $200. No way.

My dog ATE it from Wesley Chapel, FL on 08/18/2014 – Verified Buyer
I do love the look of this crate, and most people don't even realize that it is a dog crate because it really does appear to be just an end table. I bought this for my Rottie, and he loves to hang out in it and it gives him plenty of room. My only complaint is that the very first time we actually locked him in it and left, he chewed right through the bars of the door and got out. It is made out of plastic, or resin, or something. I had to call the manufacturer and order a new door that we have to reinforce with chicken wire or something. I can't believe they don't at least reinforce the bars with metal. The company said that in October of this year (2014) they will be coming out with a metal reinforced version. If you have to opportunity to wait, I would do so.

SCAM!! Canadians, DO NOT BUY HERE! from Calgary Alberta on 05/20/2013
We purchased this item in from Wayfair for 220 + Canadian shipping of another $45. It looks NOTHING like their pictures. We called Wayfair to return the item, we have to ship it back at our cost, then after Wayfair puts on all the charges on it, the refund will be $70!!!!! It will cost us $40 to ship!!! So to clarify, we paid $265 to get something that does not look anything like what they were selling, then about $40 to ship back... $305 now, and they will give me back $69! CANADIANS DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE FROM THEM!!!!

Good but not great~ from Prattville, AL on 12/27/2013 – Verified Buyer
Looks good from a picture but in real life, the TOP is paper over pressboard, so if you were to use it as an end table, it would show wear VERY fast. I thought the top was wood, hard to tell in photo but it is now glossy, it is paper with a wood grain look...so don't put a drink on it without a coaster! It DOES keep my dog in safely and does look nice but I luckily noticed it was not wood BEFORE I tried to clean it with polish or hurt it...Thank you!

Great crate! from Cleveland, OH on 03/08/2015 – Verified Buyer
Just received our crate yesterday (fast shipping - 3 days) and our family loves it! Our Boston Terrier loves going inside of it and sleeping and chewing on his toys - he doesn't view it as a place he HAS to go inside of. Rather, he actually enjoys it. Like the reviewer below, we too ordered it in Espresso, but that actually was a good thing since our living room furniture is a dark gray-ish, almost black color. The Espresso is definitely not a brown at all, but more dark gray/black, but it's perfect for us. It's certainly the most luxurious dog crate I've ever seen and our dog loves it, which makes us happy. The only thing is that assembly is required and the directions aren't very clear (the pictures are small and confusing), however, we were still able to assemble it in about an hour. You're going to have trial and error on this one, but believe us, it's worth it! It looks and feels great, very sturdy. Overall, worth every dollar as it isn't an ugly wire cage and not flimsy plywood - it reminds me of the composite wood used for decks. Also love the fact that it's made out of recycled materials. Good job, Wayfair!

My pet lounger from White Rock, BC on 07/29/2014
My pet is miniature pinsher/chiwawa size. The small crate is just the right size. It's not made of luxurious material, but the design is perfect. My dog can see what's around him, which reassures him. It's easy to clean, waterproof and lets air circulate freely, while still cover from sun. The latch to lock door gets undone regularly, but in total, it's a practical purchase. I'm quite satisfied. Shipping also was quick and on time.

Satisfied with my purchase from Michigan on 10/21/2015 – Verified Buyer
The crate isn't real wood, it is a plastic resin, which is a plus since my little chihuahua/dachshund mix sometimes has accidents when alone. I was looking for a decent crate that would blend in with the furniture instead of the ugly black wire crate. The crate was packaged so that the ends of the crate wouldn't get damaged, but UPS must have dropped the one end as it was a bit cracked at the corner seam. I used superglue to fix that, as it was a clean separation and not the manufacturer's fault. The russet color is actually a more dark muddy brown color than the picture on the website, but it blends in well enough with my furnishings. From a distance, it looks like wood, but up close it is obviously plastic. The top of the crate is a fake looking wood-grain type contact paper. I made a small tablecloth made from a scarf to cover that up. Assembly was simple- the screws are plastic and made to be turned by hand. I only had difficulty in getting the floor to line up correctly, but after a little jiggling, I managed to get it aligned correctly. My dog is only 14 pounds, but I ordered the medium based on the dimensions of the crate. Although my dog is very short, he is almost twice as long as he is tall and needs the extra length in a crate. My dog isn't a chewer and was used to a wire crate, so I wasn't too worried about him chewing the plastic. Nevertheless, I still installed the clear plastic "chew guard" for the first few days just in case. He didn't chew it, so I removed that after a week. The crate is a little on the narrow side, but with plenty of height for a smaller dog. I wouldn't recommend the medium for a dog over 25lbs, as I think it would be a tight fit. My little dog fits perfectly in there, with just enough room for a water bowl and a few toys, along with his cushion.

This isn't a travel crate, and I would discourage anyone from using it for traveling as I don't think it is sturdy enough. It is functional and I am satisfied with the look. The plastic is easy to clean if there are any accidents, which is why I didn't buy a wood version of a pet crate.

Also, for anyone starting out crate training a puppy or an adult dog, I wouldn't recommend this type of crate. The bars are plastic and any dog with teeth has the ability to chew through them given enough time. I read in another review that someone had a husky and used the large version of this crate with horrible results- I also have a husky along with my little dog, and I would never use a wood or plastic crate for the husky as he would be able to destroy this type of crate (or even a wood one) in a few minutes by chewing and scratching.

Overall, if you have a calm dog who is used to crates and feels comfortable in them, this is an economical crate that will serve its purpose of securing your dog when you are gone. If you have a young dog, an anxiety ridden dog, or hyper dog that doesn't like being crated, I would recommend going with a wire crate and getting some type of wooden cover for it. This crate works out just fine for my purposes, and looks much better than the black wire crate.

Pros: Easy Assembly, Looks Better than a Wire Crate, Functional for a Calm Dog
Cons: Not as sturdy as claimed, Cheap "contact paper" woodgrain top

Color misleading, poor quality from Milwaukee, WI on 12/14/2015 – Verified Buyer
I was able to purchase this item on super sale ($15!!) and I honestly would not recommend purchasing it for more than that. I cannot believe this item is originally $271. Although it is sturdier than particle board, it definitely is not solid wood and the top seems to be contact paper over low-quality wood so it'll definitely spot if anything is spilled.

I'm using it for my small dog who doesn't mind being crated. I would NOT recommend this for any dogs who try to gnaw their way out of crates or who will scratch. They WILL eventually get through!

Additionally, the crates are pretty narrow. My small dog can turn around in it, but like the picture, there's no way that lab can turn around in the crate, which I think would be pretty cruel. I wouldn't recommend this for larger dogs.

The color is listed as 'espresso' and it is definitely black.

I won't return because it works for my needs but for the price and quality, I wouldn't recommend it for any one who's dog has crate anxiety.

Pros: easy assembly, true to size
Cons: color not as advertised, top is not wood

Very Impressed So Far! from Fort Valley, GA on 02/19/2015 – Verified Buyer
I ordered the LARGE Pet Crate End Table on a Tuesday and it arrived Thursday. It was very easy to assemble -- I didn't even have to enlist the help of my husband. It came with a "chew guard" which I thought was nice since my 50lb Black Lab can be a bit of a chewer. He went right in and has plenty of room to lie down (I only lock him up at night to sleep as he stays in a fence during the day.) So far I am very impressed - looks much better than an ugly old crate. My only complaint is the top part of the table isn't my style, but it's easily camouflaged with a few photo frames and a lamp!

college equestrian program director from Houghton, NY on 09/22/2014 – Verified Buyer
lovely construction, very easy to put together. I use a crate for my Corgi to have a private space to sleep that is near family activity. It was easy to figure out how to remove the door, so that she can come and go as she pleases. However, the crate is just a smidge smaller than her old one, so she is reluctant to use it so far. With repeated offering of treats inside it, I think that will change and she will come to enjoy it.
It is attractive as furniture - a feature completely lacking in her old crate, which we keep for travel.

Questions & Answers

Q. "Hey. Is the New Age Pet EHHC101 - Eco-Concepts Dog Crate similar in quality to a plastic travel crate? Does it have the look of real wood?" — Eleonora
A. "Hello Eleonora, this would be of higher quality than a travel crate, as it is meant as a permanent crate that can be set up in your home. The eco-Flex material is constructed of recycled polymers and clean byproducts from the manufacturing of hardwood, primarily poplar. This material has been shown to outlast 2 wooden structures in the same climates and conditions, is weather proof, rot-proof and insect-proof. The material will not expand or contract like wood structures and will not splinter, so the material will remain solid for a much longer time period."
