I started composting with red worms over 20 years ago. Had (still have) a big, deep bin and except for one freeze where I had to replace the worms, have kept the worms going. The only downside of this single bin is cleaning it out. I don't have a lot of sun near where I keep it, so it takes a long time to get the dirt out (can't get the worms to dive down because of lack of sun). Got this because my old bin is cracking and it isn't made anymore. This kind of works, but I don't like it as much as a single big bin. Each of these tanks doesn't hold much and it's pretty much impossible to know when all the worms have left a lower bin for a top bin (and hard to know when to start another bin because you don't want the worms to leave too soon). I wish I could get another large bin. But since I can't, this will work and will have to do.

This is my 3rd 5 tray setup. My first two worked well and I had to expand again.
Does what it is supposed to do

I bought this to convert garbage to usable compost. I also bought the stainless steel .2 Cu. Ft. Kitchen Compost Collector. When it gets full I add the contents to the composter which I keep by the back door. Does not look bad at all sitting out there and I have not detected any smell coming from it. the worms seem to be doing their job of converting the garbage to compost.

I purchased this product, and the best part was the Bedding and DVD, I had to pay to have Spigot hole altered. STAY AWAY

Waiting for red wigglers to arrive, so I can't speak to the process of the product, but it was a cinch to set-up.
