You need a moisture barrier between your baby's wetness (diaper accidents or spit up) and the mattress to prevent such things as mold and smell to name a couple. Don't think it's a pad like your adult mattress padding you buy in a mattress store. A baby's mattress should be as firm as possible while their time in the crib and they don't need a hotel type feel for bedding. This is to prevent such things as I have previously mentioned from happening to the mattress itself and extending the life of the mattress. It doesn't have elastic or straps to hold onto the mattress but putting sheets over it isn't a problem unless your all thumbs. It fits perfect on the LA Baby mini crib mattress and doesn't hang over or bunch up. I also use the LA Baby Compact Knitted sheets which I have also reviewed here.

This is a very good, basic pad. I was very pleased to find an organic pad at this price.

I searched high and low for a protective cover for my child's expensive organic latex mattress. This one is COMPLETELY waterproof, unlike a wool or cotton-only pad. And it does not contain harmful substances like vinyl or PVC. My kids sleep 12+ hour a day with their little faces smooshed against their beds, so that's the LAST place I want toxic chemicals. The pad does shrink after heat-drying, but still covers the entire twin mattress. Seems sturdy and well-made. Naturepedic makes safe, smart, effective products for reasonable prices. FIVE STARS for them, and for fast shipping and excellent service from Wayfair!

Extremely dissapointed in this product. Really wanted to like it but after 2-3 uses came apart in the wash.

This is a good mattress pad (and we were specifically looking for an organic product). My only complaint is that I wish it fit like a fitted mattress, rather than having the elastic straps at the corners, but this is really just a matter of preference...

I have seven cats and I ordered this waterproof pad to slip under the cushion covers of my couch, to protect the couch from "accidents". The idea was to cut up the pad to the right sizes, and later to be able to pull the pads out to wash, if necessary. Worked perfectly although it broke my heart to cut up such a beautifully made and substantial pad. It's pricey but it's the "best". Really top quality. So, I ordered another one.

Staff was extremely helpful and their baby products are excellent.

This was bought for our 3 year old daughter's full size pillow top mattress. Our 4 year old has one too!
