Music Cases

I ordered the SKB Contoured Tenor Sax case to replace an older, somewhat worn Cannonball case. I need road worthy case and have past positive experience with SKB (one of their cases protected my alto sax from a fall off a motorcycle) and decided to give their new model 450 tenor case a try. All around it's a solid road worthy case. The latches and handle have been upgraded and are sturdier and have a more "industrial strength" feel than those on the older model. The interior of the case offers space for the sax neck and another compartment that can hold my mouthpiece and a box of reeds. It also features an an accessory pocket on the outside of the lid. This is the least impressive feature of the case as the pocket separated from the case almost immediately after unpacking it. A bit of glue will put it right but it's a bit on the chincy side for a company like SKB. Overall it's a good solid sax case. The real test will come on a couple of upcoming cross country flights where it will have to endure life in the cargo hold and the delicate hands of the baggage handlers. My 10 yr old granddaughter started in band this year and she is using my old alto. The original alto case died years ago and I had been using an old C-melody sax case that I had. It too was on its last legs. After looking around for a replacement I found the Pro Tec at a local music store and really liked the quality construction of the case but what I liked even better was finding it at Wayfair at a cost that was 50 less than the music store. my restored king cleveland from the 60's has bell keyes on the left side. so i needed to get a case that would handle that. the case it came with was not trustworthy. it was pretty used up. i didn't want the horn falling to the ground because of questionable latches on the original case. i wanted something cool. this is cool. you only need the xl if you have a differently configured horn like mine, older vintage horns like the xtra room. Wayfair was the best deal i could find on line. they beat amazon, guitar center, Wayfair etc....all of em' do your homework, there are a lot of nice cases out there and might have bought something different from C&M if it wasn't for the fitment issue. protec stuff is the real deal. i'm happy"..."  Read more

The case looks like a suit case. It is a out-standing looking case. In-side, and out. With wheels, and handle your really to move out. It is better then the picture. My Tenor is a vinage, Conn and has a large 6" bell. It is a big Sax, and it fit just right. Hard to find a case for my Tenor.. Dislikes: The side pockets are too small for my Clarinet, or Soprano Sax. Has a long' long Zipper. I am proud to take it to Concerts. Lite, but well put together. It is better then just a gig bag. My sax looks like a million dollars now in-side soft material case. Want to look like a Pro. Try this Pro Pac Case. 40 Years in the music."..."  Read more
