Music Cases

I ordered the SKB Contoured Tenor Sax case to replace an older, somewhat worn Cannonball case. I need road worthy case and have past positive experience with SKB (one of their cases protected my alto sax from a fall off a motorcycle) and decided to give their new model 450 tenor case a try. All around it's a solid road worthy case. The latches and handle have been upgraded and are sturdier and have a more "industrial strength" feel than those on the older model. The interior of the case offers space for the sax neck and another compartment that can hold my mouthpiece and a box of reeds. It also features an an accessory pocket on the outside of the lid. This is the least impressive feature of the case as the pocket separated from the case almost immediately after unpacking it. A bit of glue will put it right but it's a bit on the chincy side for a company like SKB. Overall it's a good solid sax case. The real test will come on a couple of upcoming cross country flights where it will have to endure life in the cargo hold and the delicate hands of the baggage handlers. I bought this each for our Baby Taylor and travel William Martin. Knew I had to ditch the gig bags. I had read good reviews at various sites. The price was best here. I was happy to find the reviews were true and both guitars fit well. The cases are very sturdy. Already tested them on a summer trip to CA. The guitar teacher was very impressed with the cases. He said nothing is going to hurt the guitars when they're in these cases."..."  Read more

This is an excellent design. The added strap around the case plus the centre bolt make for a very sturdy case. Also includes 4 pads for between each cymbal for the best protection. However I found that the centre bolt was too short to fit my ride, 2 crashes, hats and china (the china being the culprit). There is headroom in the case, so I replaced the centre bolt with a 3" carriage bolt. It needed to be welded to the back disc and I replace the 4 rivets with nuts and bolts. This was a bit of task as well as a testament to the quality of the construction. Once modified to fit my needs, I think it's the best case on the market."..."  Read more

This is a good protective cello case. The wheels make it easy to manuever. I find it a bit hard to load the cello in and out of the case. Best to have the case flat on the floor when doing so as opposed to standing up. Also the hinges are a potential "weak" spot. Having the case flat on the floor when loading and unloading the cello should reduce strain on the hinges as well."..."  Read more
