My 10 yr old granddaughter started in band this year and she is using my old alto. The original alto case died years ago and I had been using an old C-melody sax case that I had. It too was on its last legs. After looking around for a replacement I found the Pro Tec at a local music store and really liked the quality construction of the case but what I liked even better was finding it at Wayfair at a cost that was 50 less than the music store. I needed a case for my Warwick Bass. I have always used hard shell cases and was reluctant to purchase a soft case. The Contego Bass case by Protec is extremely well built with large pockets,smooth working zippers, balance and just great construction. I feel very comfortable transporting my instrument in this case. I am buying another for my Music Man Bass. If you are a working musician and are transporting your instrument from gig to gig you will find that there are other and more expensive Gig Bags available. my restored king cleveland from the 60's has bell keyes on the left side. so i needed to get a case that would handle that. the case it came with was not trustworthy. it was pretty used up. i didn't want the horn falling to the ground because of questionable latches on the original case. i wanted something cool. this is cool. you only need the xl if you have a differently configured horn like mine, older vintage horns like the xtra room. Wayfair was the best deal i could find on line. they beat amazon, guitar center, Wayfair etc....all of em' do your homework, there are a lot of nice cases out there and might have bought something different from C&M if it wasn't for the fitment issue. protec stuff is the real deal. i'm happy"..."  Read more

The ProTec Max Guitar Case is good overall case for general usage. Lightweight and well padded, it offers good protection for everyday type uses. The interior is soft to prevent any finish damage and there is a small compartment under the neck area. The exterior has one zippered pocket large enough for sheet music or method books. There is a rather rudimentary shoulder strap included. The shoulder strap is not ideal for carrying long distances. If you do a lot of heavy travelling or the case will be knocked around a lot a heavier case may be needed; however for most people and everyday use this is a good case and worth the price."..."  Read more
