Very Nice Ramp
Julie from Wisconsin – Verified Buyer
I looked at many ramps before choosing this one. This ramp is a manageable weight and folds into itself easily. Takes up less space in my SUV versus a folding design. The ramp covering is gritty enough to provide good traction. I cannot recommend enough that anyone using this ramp train their dog to walk on it first. If the dog doesn't like to walk on it, it's probably not the fault of the ramp. My dogs are trained in agility, so it was just another piece of equipment to them, but a lot of dogs will be fearful if not properly introduced to the ramp. A good way to do this is to leave the unopened ramp on a flat surface and coax your dog onto it using small treats. After the dog is comfortable walking the ramp on the flat, open the length of the ramp and let the dog across it. After the dog is comfortable with this, try it at your vehicle. If possible, place the ramp in fully extended position to keep the approach to the vehicle at a shallower angle. Don't rush the process. Doing this in stages will better prepare your dog to confidently walk the ramp. The time you spend doing this will pay off, especially if your dog is naturally skittish.
Works well after a little training

As far as construction goes, this seems to be sturdy. It's plenty strong enough to hold my 105lb. dog. My only complaint in construction is that there is no lock to hold it open or closed. It just slides out and back in. Seems like it might be a little more secure with some kind of lock mechanism. My dog had no problem walking back and forth on it flat on the floor. The first time I tried to use it to get him in the back of my Jeep, though, he went up kind of tentatively, and he ended up sliding back down. It was a little too steep and he just couldn't grip in spite of the sandpaper-type surface. After that he didn't want to try again. So, I set it again the couch so it was at a lower angle, and we spent several days just having him walk up and down it between the floor and the couch. After that, we spent another several days with it on some carpeted stairs, bribing him to run up and down it to get food. After he got comfortable with that, we tried the car again. I still have to support him a little on the way up so he doesn't slide back, but it's definitely easier than trying to lift him to put him in the back of the truck! Overall, I'm happy with it.
Still going strong!

Got this ramp two years ago when we first got our husky. She's a healthy young dog but since we knew she'd be getting in and out of her crate in our van numerous times per week, we didn't want to worry about hurting her joints prematurely. This ramp is perfect and it's still like new. It's also smooth and light enough where just one of us can open it, close it, and lift it back into the car, all while holding the leash of our dog with the other hand.
Very nice, sturdy product

Very sturdy and is exactly as described. The only thing I don't really care for is the very gritty sandpaper traction/flooring on it. I'm sure if my dog didn't mind it, I wouldn't either, LOL, but she doesn't like it. I'm sure it does provide good traction, bu will probably try to find something rubberized or carpeted to lay on it so it doesn't irritate her feet. Otherwise, wonderful product! Sturdy, retracts to fit in back of SUV easily! Don't care for the gritty sandpaper bottom.

I have 2 senior dogs who are 93 lbs and 95 lbs. One of them has severe bilateral hip dysplasia and the other has early Alzheimers with a lot of anxiety. This ramp is a lifesaver. It's very sturdy, although not too heavy to lift. I am an average sized woman and have no difficulty with it. Both of my dogs easily adjusted to using it with just a few practice runs. This is the first and only ramp they are actually not fearful of. I have a midsized SUV and it works great -just place one end on the bumper. Excellent product.

This ramp is exactly as described . It is easy to slide out and in,very sturdy and has a rough up side to prevent slipping. I put it in my house, leaned it up against my bed and laid it in a path way so my Great Dane who is spooked by new things could get use to it. Unfortunately she won't get near it when it is leaned up against the car. No fault of the ramp since my son's arthritic lab has no problem being lead the ramp. My only suggestion is that it might help if it was wider which would make a big dog be more secure.
Ramp for Big Dogs

We bought this for an 80-lb Labrador that was convalescing from broken leg in 2013. He learned to use it right away and recovered fully. He still eagerly walks into our SUV using the ramp, saving wear and tear on our backs. So far, has proved durable and effective for two dogs, no damage to our car.

Just got this for Christmas and only used once but this pet ramp is a very manageable one - relatively light and compact enough to fit nicely into the trunk of our car or back of our SUV. I know that our backs are going to appreciate this handy item and our arthritic labrador will be happier walking by herself into and out of our vehicles.

Our younger dog took to this right away - first flat on the floor and then slanted up a step at a time. The older one, who needs it, still needs time and more coaxing but I'm sure she'll get the hang of it. I like that it's lightweight enough for me to carry with one hand.l Pros: No assembly, lightweight, seems durable Cons: None
Best Price for the product!

The product details said it should hold up to 200-300 lbs. My dog is 180 lbs and it does slightly bend as he goes up the ramp. The texture of the sand paper like material, while it is good for non-slipping, his nails scratch it up. For the price it is great and works...easy to open and close. Pros: Very good product for the price. Easy to use.
