There aren't many options for updating your shower trim for a valve system based on the Moen 1225 cartridge (at least not without that diamond handle that I'm not too thrilled with). After searching around, I couldn't believe the price on this item. Well; let me tell you, the money is WELL SPENT money.

Advertised to work with the Moen 1225 cartridge design???? I installed a new 1225 cartridge at the same time I installed this trim kit. No way will it work with this cartridge, the handle is to heavy and will not stay in place on the hot or cold side. The trim plate has mounting holes located at the 5&7 position, this is consistent with a 1225 cartridge design type shower rough-in valve. This handle will work with a posi-temp (1220 cartridge) design but the holes in the trim plate as I noted will not work with that design (posi-temp holes located at the 1&7 position).

This is a Trim bought to replace a 15 years old polished brass trim that does not look good anymore. The trim is rather difficult to find because the screws located at 5 and 7 oclock position while most trim have different screw pattern. [...]I like this trim because the chrome finish seems to last longer. It is easy to install. The shower spout seems to be a little short, although it fits just fine. I also replaced the valve cartridge (from Moen) at the same time to minimize potential problems in the future. Just make sure to shut off the water main before starting to do anything.
