Stylish, well made, great price from West Des Moines, IA on 02/10/2013 – Verified Buyer
Would not hesitate to recommend this platform bed. (The headboard has to be purchased as a separate item which we did). I had looked at length for this style and settled on the Modus line. It came quickly, perfect condition. Very good looking bed. Comments: A little darker color than espresso but it's fine once the bed is dressed up with duvet etc. Looks and feels like leather. Reason for 4 stars not five: 4 major bolts were missing. We purchased them from the store but took an hour out to do this. Secondly, assembling the wooden spines across the frame... Instructions were completely incorrect. Actually, impossible to attach them as described. They said to first place the 13 rubber 'sleeves' along each side and down the center, then slot in the sets of wooden spines. The spines are flexedbowed under tension so you can't do it this way. Instead. make sure you fit the outside edge rubber sleeves into the bed frame, then join 2 spines at a time into each center rubber sleeve. Then with a rubber hammer, hammer the central sleeve into the metal central frame. This works perfectly and maintains the tension that the bowed spines require. Sounds complicated but it took 15 mins once we figured this out. Don't be put off by this process. I found this was the only platform bed that came with 2 sets of 13 wooden spines for really good mattress support. Basically each side of the bed has its own set of bowed spines as you can see in the photos. The flexing in the wood adds to the comfort. Most other platform beds seemed to have very few wooden slats and reviewers said they had to go out and buy more. The platform is very comfortable for our 10 mattress. We love it and also bought a matching Modus headboard. Wayfair has really great products and I buy frequently from them with confidence that I'll not be disappointed.

Lovely bed that takes the weight from Iowa City, IA on 03/31/2015 – Verified Buyer
My husband and I are larger people. It has always been hard for me to find bed frames that will hold up to my and my husband's weight together. This bed frame is rated at 800 lbs and it feels very solid. We've slept on it for just over a week now without any sense of weakness in the construction. I also like that since the platform slats are a separate unit, that if some break, we can simply replace them. A standard bed frame isn't as easy to repair. My one concern, and it could be the mattress we are using, is that there are 2-3 inch gaps from the mattress to the frame on all sides where you can see the slats. I'm hoping that the new mattress we are getting next month will cover that distance by being a higher quality.

Only had one problem from bronx, NY on 10/18/2014 – Verified Buyer
I bought this bed being that ive been sleeping with just a mattress on the floor. The fact that it is platform and doesnt require a boxspring was a plus right away. It got here pretty fast and both boxes at the same time so no waiting for me. I put it together pretty fast. My husband was at work while i did so. My sister helped a little mainly with balancing things. But over all assembly was pretty easy understndable and fast. The only problem i had with this be was the middle rail connecting to the headboard , one sode the screws wouldnt tighten bit after tightening the rest of the bolts around the middle rail was sturdey and we got all the planks in with ease. My three year old son took a liking to it and jumped on it for a while. No creeking or possible damage was done. A good nights rest was the end result. Oh also the intruction area where they ahow the invetory of parts is a bit off. Its mislettered and says there should be two middle support bars but it should be 1.

Matches description from Cynthiana, KY on 03/04/2015 – Verified Buyer
It's a very basic bed platform bed frame. It does sit very low to the ground, but I was looking for that, so it doesn't bother me. Combined with my eight inch mattress the whole bed itself actually sits a little higher than I was expecting. The faux leather on the frame is discreet but adds a nice subtle touch to it. The frame does seem pretty sturdy. I haven't done anything extremely strenuous or taxing on the bed but so far after having it for almost two weeks, I haven't heard any squeaking or excessive noise. The slats so far are providing adequate support for my mattress. Compared to the old bed frame I had, this one is a vast improvement. Much quieter and much sturdier. Assembly is definitely not suited for one person but is doable. Having a second person to assist would be advised. I'm definitely not a handy person at all and I found the instructions to be a little vague in some areas. Also, some parts, despite being provided were either mismatched, and therefore did fit where they should have, or as I discovered on the center support bar, a hole for one the plastic support pieces for the slats was missing. This forced me to leave two slats floating on the bar. I will say this took me awhile to put together. Also, the instructions don't say this, but the center support bar does need to have the side with all of the holes facing up, to help secure the slats into place. Also, getting the end of the slats into the plastic pieces provided proved to be a little troublesome as the mouths of the plastic pieces were very narrow or almost completely closed together. If you are not careful, you can splinter the slats trying to get them on. Overall, for the price I paid, I feel like this bed was bargain. I would definitely recommend that people at least consider it, especially if buying on a budget.

It will do, for now. from Pacific Northwest on 12/23/2014 – Verified Buyer
For the price, it's a'ok. It took me quite a while putting it together by myself. One of the leg screws are loose/ doesn't fit correctly so it's a bit wobbly. However, it has not given out in the past year that I've had it. I might just take the legs off all together for a lower platform feel. The instructions weren't the best. It was easier for me to take the rubber sleeves and snap it along the sides of the bed. Then I took the remainig rubber sleeves and placed them on one end of each wooden slat. Next I took one wooden slat at a time, inserting the unsleaved end of the wooden slat into the connected side sleeve and finally bending the the slat to the middle beam and snapping that into place. I later ensured that all the sleeves were securely snapped into place along the side of the bed. This way was MUCH easier and made that part a breeze after almost giving up completely from attempting to follow the instructions. Also, unfortunately, the queen sized mattress I bought doesn't cover the entire bed so you can see the wooden plats underneath when the covers aren't hiding it. But overall, this is an attractive bed, especially for the price.

Low profile and sturdy from Washington, NC on 07/29/2015 – Verified Buyer
I've had 7 platform beds previous to this one, but this is the first time having a bed with slats for the support. I was concerned initially during the shopping phase, but thought I read a review that it holds up well with tempurpedic-like mattresses, which is what I have. I have not had a problem so far with my tempurpedic mattress. I purchased the queen platform and my queen-sized mattress fitted perfectly. I just have to say based on other reviews, make sure you know and MEASURE your mattress to see if it'll fit with any platform bed you plan to purchase. The assembly instructions weren't very difficult to follow, but I do suggest using a power drill if you have one. Using the included allen wrench would make assembly take forever. For the slats, the way I did it was I placed all the center holders in the spine frame and the side holders on the side of each slat. I placed the other end of the slat into the center holder and then slid the other end of the slat that has the holder I placed previously into position of the bed frame. Took maybe 5-6 minutes to do all the slats. Overall, great product, great quality, and reasonably priced. Pros: Great value

Important Information to Consider from Charleston, SC on 09/01/2015 – Verified Buyer
I bought this platform bed after EXTENSIVE research into beds that were similar after I decided that I did not want to purchase a box spring. I looked everywhere and decided on this particular model because the great reviews, the low cost, and the overall look. I read literally all of the reviews and noted that quite a few of them complained that the mattress they had was too small for the platform bed size that they purchased. I was very nervous about this and went on an investigative journey in attempt to determine what would be the most appropriate for my queen size mattress. First, I noticed that the dimensions for the queen were much larger than that of a queen mattress. I called Wayfair directly and spoke about this concern. The first individuals I spoke to (and I spoke to about four over my journey) advised that I purchase the full size for my queen size mattress. I spoke to my mattress company and measured my own mattress to determine the dimensions, thinking that maybe the sizing isn't as standard as one would think. I called Wayfair again and the final individual was kind enough to call the actual Modus manufacturing company. He stated that the information he received from the company was that, regardless of the width of the rails, all of the queen size mattress platforms are designed to fit the 60 by 80 queen mattress. With some hesitation, I purchased the queen size. It was delivered a day earlier than expected and was very easy to assemble. An earlier review warned me that there was a misprint on the instructions about the number of middle rails (it says two and there is only one) but that was about the biggest concern I had with the instructions. The moment of truth arrived and I put the mattress on the platform and, unfortunately, there is about 1 inch on either side of the mattress and about .5 inches at the top and bottom of the mattress. It is obvious that, had I ordered the full platform, my mattress would not have fit. I personally would prefer that my mattress fits and the frame is too big than my mattress not fit at all. Basically it comes down to this: ALL the employees at Wayfair were wonderful, polite, and apologetic when they didn't have an answer. The frame came a day earlier than expected, which is great. The cost is obviously unbeatable and (other than the space on the sides) the frame itself looks great. It's simple and a basic platform, which is what I wanted. So if you're the kind of person that will use a comforter and make the bed every day, or doesn't mind having a little bit showing on each side, get it. If this is going to significantly bother you, take it from a person that called every person on the planet to find answers; don't purchase it. I don't mind it. I am a new professional that needed a low cost but decent looking bed. Do I wish that the slats weren't showing? Yes. Do I understand that I got what I paid for? Yes. Is it horrible enough for me to return? No. So there's all the information! At least now you can make an informed decision about your purchase. Best of luck and sweet dreams! Pros: Awesome customer service, good quality, easy assembly, quick delivery Cons: Too large for mattress

For the price you pay, it's a good value that looks more expensive than it was from Minneapolis, MN on 09/19/2015 – Verified Buyer
If you buy this bed I have a few recommendations to speed up assembly, especially if you are assembling by yourself. Sort out all of the hardware and pair up the washer springs and washers to the bolts. Put the washer springs and washers on the bolts. If you have a power drill with the right size hex bit, that will also speed up the process, but the allen wrench will work just fine. In the diagram, where you are installing the center support beam, install the feet first before bolting to the head and foot boards. I found that switching those two steps in the directions just made it easier to install. Also make sure that the side with more holes is face up, if I would have gone by the picture, I would have been totally upside down. The feet will not touch the ground unless there is weight on the frame. When you are hooking up the side rails, barely screw in the bolts (with washers and spring) on your head and foot boards, then one corner at time, slide the hooks of the side rails into place (no balancing act then). Tighten one bolt on each corner, then go to the next bolt - repeat until you have them all secure. For the plastic pieces that go with the wood slats; put them on the wood THEN insert the plastic dowels into the holes, just like the picture, bowed side up. It took me less than an hour to assemble my bed. I only needed a hammer to lightly tap the feet into the head and foot board. I had a few extra pieces, the plastic ones for the wood slats. I also recommend wiping down the side rails with a mild soapy water since there was a warning able certain chemical used during manufacturing. I am actually pretty impressed with how sleek this bed looks and I like the low profile. I purchased the full size bed and this was also my first purchase from Wayfair. Delivered in two boxes, came undamaged and ahead of estimated delivery time. Wooden feet give this more of an expensive look. Pros: Assembly was fairly straightforward. Price is good. Cons: I would have liked to see a stronger wood used for the slats.

Good bed for the price from Johnstown, PA on 05/23/2013 – Verified Buyer
Overall I like this bed especially at this price I would say its closer to black than chocolate but I like the color and the look with the tufted headboard. A few things to note I have the full size and do have a gap of about an inch on the sides of the mattress, I measuered and its 56 inches from inside of side rail to the other side which accounts for the space. Also on the full size the slats are 3 12 to 3 34 inches apart not 2 12 as stated in the Q&A section, this may matter for folks with latex or memory foam mattress. Finally, I took Patricia's advise on how to install and it worked brilliantly and made installing the slats a snap.

Twin Size is unusable!!! from Surprise, AZ on 08/21/2014 – Verified Buyer
So let me just say that I am more than a little annoyed by the fact that this bed frame is not up to size..or should I say oversized. I bought this bed for my 2 1/2 year old son who is looking for his big boy bed and after I got this frame installed, mattress purchased, and all ready to go for him to see and use after daycare I get something that is completely unusable. The frame is 40" 3/4 wide and 76 1/2" long which creates a huge gap both at the end of the bed and on the side. Basically its a 3" gap on the side and a 2" gap on the end which just can't be overcome. So while the frame is nice and of solid quality, the terrible dimensions on this should make it a no go for you...at least that is if you are in the market for a twin. Please don't let your toddler down like I did today and choose another frame.
