"Hello Teressa, MDF in this Modloft Ludlow Bed in White stands for medium-density fiberboard. MDF is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, often in a deliberator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. It is denser than plywood and is made up of separated fibers, (not wood veneers) but can be used as a building material similar in application to plywood. It is stronger and much more dense than normal particle board."

"Hi Kim. The mattress is nestled slightly inside of the bed frame. You would not be able to slide the mattress down away from the headboard because it sits in the frame. The first slat for the headboard is at the top right by the headboard."
