Mixers

This is my first new stand mixer. The one I had before was from the '70's I bought at a yard sale. It worked but it was noisy, heavy and difficult to store. I only had one set of beaters for it so there was only so much I could do. My new Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer is so quiet and powerful, I couldn't believe how well it works. It's light weight and easy to store plus I love the sleek design. Suddenly I feel like a "grown-up" cook! ;D I also love the versatility of using it as a stand or hand mixer. I was a bit disappointed the stand mixer doesn't have a paddle attachment but after a few uses, I found I don't need it. I can use my beaters for 90% of what I make and then switch to the dough hooks for the bread. This is an affordable stand mixer perfect for the average home cook. Prior to purchasing a mixer I spoke with people from local businesses to find out which mixer that had chosen, and for the most part two brands were in the majority. They were Hobart and Viking. Hobart was well out of my price range so my choice was evident. After using the Viking mixer it is obviously the perfect choice. The mixer is sleek looking, but muscular at work. It has cut mixing time because of the efficient design. Price comaprison for other 5 quart brand mixers is similar but the motor rating on the Viking is much higher which hopefully will make the Viking last much longer. well, tough stuff is what this little power house of a mixer will do! My old mixer would have died during cookie dough mix, but not this mixer. I have used all the attatchments and my gravy was lumpless! eggs were whisked great! I have used this mixer VERY much this past month. It has 4 ridges underneath for different size bowl rests. It is a little loud, but not enough to lessen rating. It's lo speed is lo and I am totally satisfied with this purchase! WAYFAIR earns its' name with wayyyy fair prices, quick ship."..."  Read more

I use this mixer for volume that is too small for my stand mixer. Works fine for that. Comfortable to hold."
