Mint Inc.

MINT Inc is a design collective founded by Alberto Mantilla, Anthony Baxter and Scott Henderson. The company was formed simply to create an outlet for creative ideas that are generated by the three founding designers in the course of their professional careers when a client commission may not be present. The MINT name was chosen because "mint" connotes freshness as in the literal sense of the mint plant, but also because it has industrial meanings, as in the place or source of manufacture and invention. Mint is "Refreshing".

ALBERTO MANTILLA was born in Bogotá, Colombia and graduated with a BA in Industrial Design from Javeriana University in 1983. Alberto worked for Henry Dreyfuss Associates before co-founding Curve ID with Anthony Baxter in 1994. Curve ID is a design consultancy with a wide range of well known clients including: Nike, John Deere, Pyrex and Colgate Palmolive. In 2001 he co-founded Mint Inc with Anthony Baxter and Scott Henderson.

Alberto's work has been the subject of numerous design articles including TIME Magazine's "Best Designs of the Year" article in 1998 and has won many design awards including two prestigious IDEA awards, ID Magazine's "Design Distinction" award, and a Colombian Lapiz de Acero award.

TONY BAXTER was born in Bradford, England and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication in London in 1990.

Tony came to New York City in 1991 where he worked for Henry Dreyfuss Associates, before co-founding Curve ID with Alberto Mantilla in 1994. Curve ID is a design consultancy with a wide range of well known clients including: Nike, John Deere, Pyrex and Colgate Palmolive.

In 2001 he co-founded Mint Inc with Scott Henderson and Alberto Mantilla. Mint is a design collective that produces clever and intriguing design objects that are distributed worldwide.

As a teenager, Tony had to choose between his two passions, design and football. The choice was easy as he was an absolutely terrible footballer.

SCOTT HENDERSON is an American designer who heads the New York based design studio Scott Henderson Inc. and is also Principal and Co-Founder of MINT where he designs, manufacturers and distributes home accessory objects to over 250 retailers and museums throughout the world including The Museum of Modern Art.

Scott is known for his ability to transform the mundane. He believes that if something makes you smile it becomes easier to use. With over 50 patents in the U.S. and Europe for projects as diverse as house wares and home accessories to consumer medical products, electronics, even aircraft- his work has been widely recognized in exhibitions, awards programs and in the press. For Scott, design is not a discussion of form versus function; it’s about thinking and the quality of the big idea. Scott’s work included in the permanent collections of The Brooklyn Museum, the Chicago Athenaeum and Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum / Smithsonian Institution.
