DIFFICULT TO USE
Roxanne from Sanford, FL– Verified Buyer
I am giving this a one star rating because it is difficult to use. It is quite a challenge, and time consuming, to try to find the balance of tightness on the black top lid to manipulate the automatic water flow - too loose and the water continuously flows, will empty and make a mess. Too tight and no water is released. It takes more time than I have to give to make sure it works and that my sweet chickens have access to plenty of water thru the day. It is exactly as pictured and made with quality materials. I am not saying to not buy it, just letting you know my challenge with using it. Perhaps it will work better for you.

I like this 3 gallon waterer better than similar plastic and galvanized ones. While it is not intended to hang, the lid with handle is a nice top fill feature, better than removing a liner or inverting. The separate dispenser cap to control flow makes the whole system more versatile: it is possible to clean the tray without emptying the container, and add water to the jar before it is empty. Like all plastic containers, it will grow greenpink slime in the sunlight, better to keep in the shade. The 3 gallon unit is a little heavy for me to carry around when full, so I have to fill it in 2 stages if the water source is distant. Although it is not available in a smaller size and footprint, such as 1 or 2 gallons, I wish it was for smaller chicks.

This is one of the few poultry fountains I've seen that has a round tank. The round shape allow for easier cleaning and eliminating of scum/bacteria versus other poultry fountains that have many "corners" where the yucks like to hide. I HIGHLY recommend this. Great product. Wonderful price!

For a poultry fountain, it works well. Not much to say about a poultry fountain.
