Well Constructed, Perimeter Urine Issue

from Denver, CO

After searching for some time in local stores and online, this seemed to be the best bunny cage for us -- and I liked the formed plastic clean-out tray in the bottom (that won't rust, as another vendor's metal tray can do). We like the combination of the front and top doors to access the inside, and the cage's construction is fairly sturdy. So thumbs up for all that. There's a problem with this cage that we didn't seem to encounter with the "other" sampled (other manufacturer's) cage, or thus anticipate with this cage. Since the slide out bottom tray is curved at the top edge and down into the bottom floor of the tray, it creates a distance which spans from the perimeter of the cage, down into the tray where the wood shavings and bunny droppings and urine end up. I've ordered URINE GUARDS (they're sold in pairs, which I've ordered three pairs of to custom fit upon arrival -- as Bunny urine is something we're definitely wanting to avoid being sprayed outside the cage) as an additional accessory (hoping this will actually remedy the situation by directing the "overage" back down into the bottom tray). While waiting on these to arrive, I've temporarily cut out the top of the box the cage was shipped in (in which we've temporarily set the cage down into) and continue wrapping and rewrapping it in painters' plastic every time we clean the cage's tray, to catch all the urine overflow which our bunny sometimes seems to spray outside and onto surfaces, walls and/or the floor -- which is NOT caught in the cage's/tray's design. And I've been going through a lot of plastic shipping tape with this temporary remedy to tighten down the plastic to the cardboard box (away from the cage perimeter as much as possible) so that our bunny cannot chew on it. This ongoing "fix" has not made me particularly pleased with the product. In all, we like the cage -- but would suggest the manufacturer redesigns the plastic bottom tray for the cage in a way which actually covers the entire cage floor, all the way out to the exterior cage wires -- as did the "other" manufacturer with the metal tray "box" version . . . or they sell the cage with these Urine Guard "accessories" as an integrated feature of the cage, as it comes "stock!" -- an obvious oversight in product development. With more time, we may have found the "other" cage to have had this same issue -- BUT in over a week's time, we did not seem to encounter this issue with the other one. Not happy either with the fact that I spent an additional $30-something to correct a design flaw which the manufacturer "missed" in their conceptual, trial, and final designs. But again, the cage is nice otherwise.

from TN – Verified Buyer

I purchased one to house two baby squirrels that fell out of a tree during a storm. It worked out so great that I came back and ordered a second one after the squirrels grew and needed more room. I placed the two cages together by turning one upside down. I sat the cages on a dolly and would wheel the squirrels in cages outside daily so they could hear the sounds of nature. Finally, it was time to let them go. I placed the entire set of two stacked cages, high into one of the trees. That was about two years ago. Mr Gray and Miss Red, continue to visit their cages and often sleep in them and the cages are still like new....even after being in the weather up in the tree, for two years!

Fast delivery

from Jonesborough, TN – Verified Buyer

Cage is not good quality. It was bent when we received it. However, once we set it up and for our lop bunny into it, it has been fine. Considering the price I think we got what we paid for.

Rabbit Cages worth he money

from Henderson, TN – Verified Buyer

I bought 5 of these and they are easy to clean, sturdy and the doors open and close easily. I would buy the cages again, for this size though I only keep one rabbit in it.

Too small for adult rabbit w/den assembl

from Bergen County NJ – Verified Buyer

I got this so I could bring my rabbit in house when weather gets too cold (below 30 F). I put iton a table in basement. After I put Bugsy in it I noticed he couldn't really do anything but just stretch out. I'm going to keep it just for those really cold nights..He seems to enjoy his pen/home I built in the yard it's 4'x2'. plenty of room for exercise.

great travel cage

from auburn Wa – Verified Buyer

This is such a great cage as we bring our pet rabbit camping with us and this cage sets up and breaks down in no time amd takes up little packing room . We also will remove the tray and set the cage in the grass so she can munch on fresh grass and still be protected . My only wish is that it came with urine guards included .
