Awesome cage, EXTREMELY difficult to assemble
Virginia from Seattle, WA– Verified Buyer
The cage itself is awesome and everything I hoped for, but it is EXTREMELY difficult to assemble. Even with two people, it was a massive pain and some pieces simply did not fit into the slots they should have without a LOT of finagling and using a mallet to tap (or rather, bang) it into place. Also, the instructions labeled the four side panels as identical, but only after we were down to the last step of putting on the top did we discover that two of them had holes for an attachment meant to hold the top in place while the other two did not. Guess where the pieces with the holes were On the bottom as we'd not realized there was any difference. I reread the instructions several times and this truly isn't mentioned anywhere until you get to the final step and realize only two of the pieces have holes for this attachment. We had to dismantle nearly the entire thing to swap the pieces and do it all over again, including trying to fit together the maddening sections that just didn't quite want to line up right unless you exerted a lot of force and wiggling and used a rubber mallet. The finished product is great and I don't regret buying it one bit... I just wish it hadn't been such a pain to put together. Prepare to spend time cursing andor crying andor considering tossing the whole thing out a window. I would never ever try to assemble this cage without two people. It's a joke that the instructions say it's possible to do with one person, but may be difficult. I do not think it would be possible at all.
Bigger than expected!

I got this cage for my pet Florida grey squirrel. Squirrels need lots of space to jump, climb, and multiple nesting sites. This cage didn't disappoint! The pictures don't do it justice, as it's much bigger than the pics lend to your imagination! I got the addon unit as well, thinking I'd need it, but really, the double unit cage is plenty big. I'll keep the addon anyway (although, Wayfair sent me the Critter Nation addon, instead of the Ferret Nation one. Thank goodness they fit together the same way!) Both units together, on top of the stand wcasters, it is over 7 feet tall!! I needed a step ladder to assemble the addon unit to the top. You get a bargain with the price and quality of this cage. The ramps and shelves are larger than I expected. A little bit overkill for my squirrel, but I imagine ferrets have plenty of room to lay down and play as well. The door locks are awesome, there's no way an animal could manipulate the doors open. I'd recommend the Critter Nation cages if you have smaller animals, like rats, however! My squirrel is full grown, so the bar spacing isn't a big deal, but younger or smaller squirrels, or rats would be safer with the Critter Nation line (bars are horizontal and 12 spacing). I've used MANY different types of cages, and wish they had this unit when I started - You can't beat the price for the quality and satisfaction of size that Midwest offers! Assembly was a breeze! A mallet would be handy to secure the dowels tight, but the rest is supplied (few screws and tabs and a nifty Philips screwdriver). I'm in love with this cage - so is my squirrel! The trays are easy to clean, because they can be removed and hosed off, and the covers can be removed and washed. And the unit can be modified easily to accommodate more units if you have more than 2-3 ferrets (this unit should do fine for up to 3 full grown ferrets).
Fantastic, with minor flaws!

The pet store around my area sells this exact cage for 299.99 I figured I could find is cheaper and I did! This is a phenomenal cage for your fuzzies. Now for the pros full face doors, cleaning is a breeze and youll never huff and puff about it again I promise, its very roomy for my two fuzz butts after being transferred from a 2 story one unit cage from years a go they hardly know what to do with themselves. Cons the cage is a pain in the neck to put together, I advise to read the instruction verbatim. The box says no tools needed but trust me you need a rubber mallet and some elbow grease. (Its 107 pounds with virtually no packaging contents to prevent the cage parts from slamming off of one another and warping them) but saving money there is no complaints. I would recommend two people. I expected them to be somewhat beat up, I also had to zip tie the top, the two clips that come provided arent enough to keep to top secure. But I recommend buying this, its easily the best cage on the market. By far.
Great Quality. Flexible.

Works great for Ferrets or larger small animals. Don't think you can buy a better cage.

I foster felines, and this cage is amazing for kittens. You can divide it into two separate cages, each with an additional half shelf, or open it for a larger litter. It is well made, very sturdy, and the spacing on the bars is small enough to be safe for kittens. Unlike some other cages, since it does NOT fold down you don't have the risk of kitties getting their paw pads caught if they play in the corners (I've had this happen with some 4' tall condos I have).
Perfect for my three rats
Josie G. from Truth or Consequences, NM– Verified Buyer
After reinforcing the cage with some 12 hardware cloth, this cage worked out perfect for the three rats that I have. It has plenty of space and I like that you can close off the levels, making it easier for cleaning. I did end up purchasing the scatter guards for both levels and it helped to where I could have more bedding in the cage without it spilling out.
Awesome ferret cage!

I purchased this cage for my 2 ferrets, and they absolutely love it! It's SO roomy and the large access doors make it super easy to clean! It has cut my daily cleaning time in half! Based on the other reviews, I was very nervous about the assembly, but to my surprise, my husband and I found it very simple & easy to put together! We had it assemblied in less than 1 hour! Rubber mallet is definately required though to hammer it all together. One of the shelves did come with a small chip missing in the corner, but I called the manufacturer and they replaced it right away. Only minor complaint is that one of the cage doors seems a little 'off' and I have to jiggle it a little to get it locked into place. Overall, not a big deal though. My fuzzies love the cage and maneuver between the levels with ease. I'm very happy with the purchase and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a new ferret cage.
Love this cage for cats
Ramona Okamoto from SEATTLE, WA– Verified Buyer
I saw this cage being used at a cat adoption event and knew I had to have one! Well, actually now I have two. Because I foster cats and initially quarantine them for 10+ days, these cages provide a comfortable, maybe even swanky, setup to do this. You can put the litter box on the lower level and not have to disturb or stress the cat when cleaning it out. The cat gets a little exercise by hopping through the different levels, and it's roomy enough for a small scratching pad/board. Of course you can also close off the floor opening and use it as two cages.

Sturdy cage. Relatively easy to assemble if you rewrite/resequence the instructions (put wire floor pieces in before competing a cage 'box.') Easily house 5, maybe 7 ferrets. Fully opening doors make clean up simple.
Ferrets Love It - So Do We!
Lisa from Fort Worth, TX– Verified Buyer
We were looking for a sturdy, well-built home for our little guys, and found it! It has tons of room, so you can load them up with toys and other things designed to keep them entertained. Plus it's super easy to clean, which is always a plus. The ability to raise one of the ramps and close off the upper and lower sections is great when they need their "space"! Highly recommend to anyone thinking of investing in a new house... Definitely worth the extra money!
