Doesn't work well and flimsy
Jennifer from Baltimore, MD– Verified Buyer
So I got this for my Critter Nation cage, as the bedding material was constantly being kicked out by my 4 rat girls. I knew it wasn't a replacement bottom pan (though I can't imagine why they don't simply make those?!) and that it was a clip on to the bottom plastic pan. Unfortunately, it's rather clumbsy to take on and off for cleaning and seems flimsy in my opinion. Yes, it does help a little with bedding scatter, but honestly not that much. On all sides the bedding goes over the top or (worse) under the bottom, then on to the floor it goes. Also, the angled nature makes it harder for the doors to latch closed on the bottom. I just can't understand why such a great cage would have such a terrible solution to bedding scatter. I use Carefresh and no matter how little I put in, the floor below the cage is always dotted with bedding. If you are going to get it, just be aware of the above issues. Wayfair had, by far, the best price I could find on it. I wish I would have saved my money, will be investing in stainless steel pans from another manufacturer with straight 3" sides made to fit this cage.

I don't really have any serious complaints. It keeps the litter in like it's supposed to, which saved me from spending $50+ on a deeper galvanized pan and curing it. I actually have less litter on my floor with this than with my other cage!

This works ok. It can be difficult to remove and put back for cleaning. But it does its job and keeps the liter in the cage and off the floor.

A must have to keep bedding from flying out of the Critter Nation cage although my little guys still manage to toss some over the edge. Fairly easy to install but makes cleaning the tray a bit more involved. Don't want to keep removing and reinstalling.
Great Urine Guard

The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the way it attaches to the base. Metal, sort of hooks on and you have to bend them a bit and I'm afraid that with time, they will eventually break off. Other than that, it's perfect for cleanliness as my guys love to back up all around the edges and do their business!

I thought it was diffrent but got it.its metal and snaps on to the bottom plastic tray.it works ok wish it was one piece...tray and high guards.i love it but the paper litter always get behind it..but other than that it works well and is made well.just wish fit better and was one piece, bottom tray and side guards.

I have a Chinchilla and this works ok. It's better than not having anything at all. A lot of debris gets stuck under the edges, but I use a vacuum to clean the cage and it works great at getting all the debris that is stuck under the scatter guard.
Nice to find this

We were pleased with the scatter guard. My daughter has a ferret. It is nice to see that there is somewhere to get ferret products and small pet products. She also has guinea pig that can use it. I would recommend this.

I was not happy with the litter guard. I have rabbits in cage, and the mess is everywhere, it does not keep it in the cage. The litter also gets trapped between the guard and cage floor, so you have to take it apart every time you clean the cage and it is a little pain to get back together.
Rebecca from Wisconsin
The floor 'pan' of the critter nation cage isn't really made to hold litter as the depth is only about an inch. That's where the scatter guard is supposed to help by adding a few inches around the edge of the pan. It does.. but there is enough space beneath the guard and then between the guard and the pan that the bedding is very easily pushed up underneath and out of the cage. A worthless purchase since my floor was full of bedding within less than an hour of having my pets in the cage with the new 'scatter guards'.
