Microplane Premium Classic Zester / Grater - 46020

I kept putting off buying one of these micro planes. Im glad I finally purchased it, works so much better and faster then zesting with a knife.

This is the first time I've ever used a zester/grater and I am happy with the performance.

Does a beautiful job grating nutmeg, zesting citrus, etc.

I use this for garlic (makes a paste) for a smoother blend into my recipes and also for zesting citrus. I've been wanting a zester for ages and this one knocks my socks off!

When I used this to zest 10 lemons, I was really happy with how it worked. It got just the zest but not the pith and was very easy to use. Very sharp. This would be a good gift for a home cook.

I liked the grater for parmesan cheese and especially grating whole nutmeg. It worked well with zesting lemons and oranges without have to dig to get the zest off the grater, just brush it off.

I received this as a free promotional item, but I'm glad I did. I had wanted to try a microplane grater/zester for a while, and this is really great. I've mostly used it to grate parmesan cheese, which it does very well. The cheese is so fine, silky and light, and it just looks pretty! The cheese (mostly) gathers in the little "track" on the backside, and you can just push it out onto your food...though it did take me a little practice to get it right, and I did still spill all over the counter. Practice makes perfect though - I'll just have to find more things to grate! It's easier to clean than my box grater, but it's still a little tough to clean by hand. I think it's dishwasher safe though, so if I had a dishwasher, cleaning would be a snap. It's not AWFUL to clean though, and that definitely doesn't stop me from using it! I don't have much experience with other graters/zesters, so I can't really compare, but this one seems to do the trick!
