I needed a bag to take on vacation to India, and it needed to be very versatile... Needed to be: 1) Secure 2) Protective enough of my Leica Camera that I didn’t have to carry another bag 3) Light enough that I wouldn’t hate carrying it 4) Suitable for everyday use 5) Large enough to carry passports, glasses, cameras and all the other odds and sods 6) Easy to Clean 7) Sufficient pockets that I could find things easily 8) Adjustable strap that could be worn messenger style / backpack and over-the-shoulder. This bag fits all my needs. I was afraid when I ordered it that my camera would not fit: it is a bulky 7â€?x5â€?x4â€? in its neoprene case. However, it slots comfortably into the computer sling, and my daughter’s compact Pentax DMC-TZ5 nestles in nicely beside it. I would not recommend putting cameras in the bag without other protection. The outside open pockets (covered by the flap) are just the right size for my oversized wraparound sunglasses in their case, and my reading glasses, and my Joby Gorillapod SLR Tripod lies below the computer sling (would also be good for an umbrella). The front zippered pocket will protect my iPhone. Did I mention an open pocket on the rear for easy access to maps or boarding passes? There is still a little room in the main compartment for my First-Aid Kit, make-up bag, book, gloves, and sweater. Obviously, with all this hardware inside I NEED it to be secure! The computer sling is lightly padded and has a Velcro strap, it hangs bout an inch from the bottom of the bag, but as the leather is soft it won’t make that much difference, hence the stowing of my tripod! The front zip pocket is the full width of the bag, and the long flap with the weighted brass ring covers the open pockets well. The magnetic snap is quite strong. What will really keep my possessions safe is that fact that they will be hugged close to my body! The adjustable strap is surprisingly comfortable and, the leather is so supple that it molds the contents to your body making this one of the most comfortable bags I’ve worn. It is not a “pretty bagâ€?, but it is both rugged and sophisticated making it suitable for both sexes. So far I am most delighted with this find! The only thing I would change is adding a zipper across the main compartment for added security. The soft nature of the bag probably doesn't provide the best protection, but it makes it usable for me, and so I give it 5*. I also purchased the David King Large Cross Body for those days I just need documents / books compact camera and want to travel light –see my separate review."..." Read more

I searched for a leather bag for my laptop for a long time before find this one. To be honest I was concerned about buying this kind of purchase online and wish that they had better pictures, but the bag was perfect when it arrived. Excellent quality and very classy (mine is black). Plus it was about $100 less that other bags I found online. I bought it for my laptop. I put a strip of foam in the bottom of it for protection. The sides have enough pockets that I feel very safe carrying by Dell Lattitude around. Lots of pockets for carrying papers and folders. Unlike some posters, I like the magnetic clips, they work great."..." Read more

Trager Odyssey Laptop Bag Trager
Trager Odyssey Laptop Bag

We have had another Trager computer bag for about a decade. Their bags are extremely rugged and ours shows little signs of wear. The Odyssey bad is somewhat larger -- we find this useful as a plane carryon bag for computer and assorted other stuff. There are two outside pockets on the bag's ends that are useful for small items like cellphones and small umbrellas and two outer zip pockets (1 large, 1 small) that are useful for plane trips. Inside the bag is very roomy, with two zip compartments and an outer open one (the photos from Trager could be more informative about the bag's pockets). Side straps can rein in the bag's sides. My only criticisms are that there could be more pen pockets in the smaller zip section and that the business card pocket on the outside of the bag underneath the flap could be longer. A dedicated compartment for water bottles would be desirable. We are glad we purchased this one (for trips) and would recommend it to others."..." Read more

David King East/West Full-Flap Messenger Bag David King

The appearance and quality of the leather, the zippers and fasteners and the workmanship are excellent. The incredible depth of the pockets is spectacular for books, laptop computers, and things 4"x6" or larger. I gave the leather a good wipedown with mink oil, and was rewarded with a glow, suppleness and "character" that I would have expected to pay double for. This is real leather. Real GOOD leather. Thin, light and very tough. Sadly, this bag is a real pain for small items. If you carry medicine bottles, small tools, etc., grab your snorkel, roll up your sleeves and prepare to do some spelunking. I am looking for small organizers that I can put into the many capacious pockets. Also, the 'full flap' does not cover the main compartment completely. Small items fall out, cords dangle, and, on rainy days, your computer will get wet. It's odd that something so well thought out overall would have this obvious weakness. All in all? It's a great deal, and I would buy another one, or give one to a friend!"..." Read more
