We use the grinder for processing raw food for our 6 dogs. We were looking for a big inlet tube so we had to do as little cutting as possible to get the pieces in the head. Power and price were also considerations. I did quite a bit of research and decided on this unit. We couldn't be happier with the decision. We grind bone in poultry pieces only, whole chickens, legs and backs and turkey necks. The grinder makes short work of these and we can feed pieces super fast. The unit is heavy and the handle on top is helpful for hoisting the unit to the counter. We find the grinder is easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning. We were looking for a meat slicer that would thinly slice meat and cheese. We did not want to spend a lot of money, so this fit the bill quite well. It is very easy to use, and it will slice your meat deli thin if you want. We found that it sliced beef brisket and ham in uniform slices with very little effort on my part. My only complaint really is that it is difficult to clean. You have to be very careful when taking the blade off, and there is no way to sanitize it. I would not recommend it at all for raw meat. Nothing makes a better gift than a commercial grade meat grinder that is actually made to be used as a residential food grinder. I expect the recipient to enjoy many years of fresh ground beef, sausage, venison, rabbit and other small tasty woodland creatures. This is simply awsome. My roasts, chickens and even roasted egg plant comes out tasting better than I thought possible.
