Mattress Pads and Covers

My joints and muscles ached at night due to lupus and fibromyalgia. After much thought, my husband consented to the purchase of a bed with multiple layers of advanced technology foams although he prefers a firmer mattress. Once our new bed arrived, however, it was difficult to get used to because of being too squishy and hot. I couldnt seem to get that good nights sleep that I so desperately needed and so began my search for a more suitable mattress pad than the one we already had. After looking at many different ones in local stores, I placed an order online for the Serta Perfect Day Outlast Mattress Pad and it came within a few short days. My husband and I immediately noticed a remarkable difference that it made to our new bed.The pad fit nice and tight and didnt slide off the mattress during the night along with providing a perfect sleeping area. It not only was very comfortable, but our once semi-squishy mattress became much firmer and now is a thing of the past. Hot flashes, due to the onset of menopause, were also greatly diminished during summertime use with the pad and cold winter nights in Colorado have been very comfortable. We attribute the mattress pad, with its extra deep pockets for our thick mattress, to be the perfect addition to our new bed! My husband and I now experience difficulty getting out of bed and we both cant wait to fall to sleep each night! You need a moisture barrier between your baby's wetness (diaper accidents or spit up) and the mattress to prevent such things as mold and smell to name a couple. Don't think it's a pad like your adult mattress padding you buy in a mattress store. A baby's mattress should be as firm as possible while their time in the crib and they don't need a hotel type feel for bedding. This is to prevent such things as I have previously mentioned from happening to the mattress itself and extending the life of the mattress. It doesn't have elastic or straps to hold onto the mattress but putting sheets over it isn't a problem unless your all thumbs. It fits perfect on the LA Baby mini crib mattress and doesn't hang over or bunch up. I also use the LA Baby Compact Knitted sheets which I have also reviewed here."..."  Read more

I purchased this mattress pad to go with the futon mattress and futon cover that I also purchased from Wayfair and which I'm very happy with. When I recently put the mattress pad/cover on for the first time the skirt split right along the gathered stitching. Other than the tear, the mattress pad is well-made and covers the entire mattress - not skimpy as some others are. When I have some time I'll try to repair it."..."  Read more
