Mattress Pads and Covers

This mattress pad has a waterproof polyester sheet covered with about 3/8 inch of fluffy polyester fill, a cotton cover and a lightweight polyester stretch skirt. The polyester sheet makes a slight rustle but it's hardly noticeable. The fluffy fill compresses thin when laying on but still gives a sense of comfort. The skirt along with the somewhat rough bottom of the polyester sheet contacting the mattress keeps the pad in position. It's not hot to sleep on. The package says the pad fits mattresses up to 18 inches. It shrank a little even with a cold wash and cool dry which might then be too small for 18 inches. The queen size almost fills a standard front loader washer or dryer because it stays bunched up and so doesn't wash or dry well. The pad's tag says to use large capacity commercial machines if the pad doesn't move freely in standard ones. This is a minus if frequent trips to a laundromat are necessary.
