I needed a smallish mantel-type clock for the top the media cabinet under our TV, and this fits the bill adequately. It's metal, as described, but it's very light weight, and the "antique" finish is painted on, rather than being the natural patina of the metal. A bit cheap looking up close, but not too noticeable from a distance. Even though the numerals are big enough to read from across the room, that's possible only when the room is lighted. I gave this clock as a gift to someone who works nights and sleeps days. The person wanted it as a backup to his cell phone alarm. It’s a beautiful clock. It makes no noise until the alarm goes off.
