Nice looking and excellent value, but kinda big.

We were drawn to this set's handsome and understated melding of modern and classical styling, together with its reasonable price particularly since it's made of virtually rustproof 18/10 stainless steel, which contains nickel, as opposed to the many sets in this price range that are only rust-resistant 180 stainless that doesn't have the that additional protection. In hand, they have a decent weight to them and are well made, but -- as is often the case with European flatware -- some of the pieces seem rather big compared to our US set (size comparison below), particularly the tablespoon, which looks and feels more like a serving spoon -- and will probably end up being used as such! We also don't like that the knife has 'Casa Lorren Italy' stamped prominently on the blade, and that the rest of the pieces have '18/10 Casa Lorren Italy' on the back (OK, so we get it already!!) -- a rather un-classy touch from an otherwise classy company, it seems to us. So, to sum up, we recommend this set for its styling, its value, and its quality, as long as you're OK with the shameless sales promotion on each piece and the fact that they're a little bigger than you might be used to -- e.g : knife 9 vs. 8 1/2, dinner fork 7 3/4 vs. 7 1/4, salad fork 7 3/8 vs. 6 1/8, tablespoon 7 3/4 vs. 7 1/4, teaspoon 6 1/2 vs. 5 7/8).

Great quality. Love the long handle salad fork and large soup spoon. The weight is perfect!
