Little Colorado 40" H Traditional Child's Bookcase

I've been looking for a solid hardwood bookcase for years. Back 20 years ago, they were abundant, but now a days it's hard to find and it gets very expensive once you find one. This one is just over $100 and very sturdy. I hate to see the shelves slant as the years go by, and this one will do the job for 50 years and more. I got the unfinished one, because the painted ones are over my budget, but it looks just fine and does the job. I'll be painting it some time later, but I don't see the need for it now. Looks natural and clean so far.

Very nice bookcase with the exception of arriving with a small crack in it but the customer service rep that I spoke to took care of that problem.

We searched & searched for a safe paint bookshelf for a child's room. This bookcase is wonderful. We bought the white b/c we wanted something that would match any room & be gender neutral. Also, the white makes the books stand out really well. Please note that this comes w/ the needed items to anchor this to the wall for safety. This is needed b/c w/o anchoring this to the wall it would be relatively easy for a little one to pull this down on them. Again, this book shelf includes the hardware needed to do this - I just wanted to point out that if you don't utilize what came w/ it & leave the bookcase free standing it could fall over if pulled/etc. However, this would be the case w/ any bookcase. Again, main reason for buying was the "safe paint". As others reviews have noted when you first open the box, there is a VERY potent smell. I was NOT happy about this, but, and this is important, as soon as I discarded the special/unique styrofoam type packing the smell was gone. I think the smell might have come from the packing. The bookcase itself probably has some smell to it as it was painted & then packed away for a long time, but if you wipe it down w/ something & just leave it air out in a different room for a day/few then you will have no problems. We absolutely LOVE this bookcase & HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I only brought up the above so others would know what to expect, but you aren't going to find another safe paint bookcase - we've looked. And, IT IS FULLY ASSEMBLED - except for wiping it down from being in a box so long we didn't have to do anything. Wonderful!

We bought this bookcase for our daughter's nursery, and we love it. It is a solid piece that is well crafted abs sturdy. It comes with a wall-anchor kit for safety. We have over 70 kids' books on the shelves, and there is still room for more! The bookcase came fully assembled and was delivered quickly.

I bought it for my baby girl who just started roaming aroung. Thought it would be good for her to interact with books around a cute bookshelf. It fulfill this purpose quite well with two alternations: First, by taking off the backboard, which is not actually solid wood material and gives out a stronger smell, so I had to get rid of it to put it into the room asap, Fortunately, it didn't take long to conduct so. Second, without using the special tool kit that provides with the shelf to hold it to the wall, the bookshelf is not as stable as I expected for a baby to pull herself to stand and play with it. Though this should not be a porblem for OLD KIDS. I give a four star overall for so far I like it, and so does my baby.

I picked the Oak finish and It did have a smell when I took it out of the box, so I would leave it out to air out before placing in childs room. Besides that the bookcase is so cute!!! and easy for my 2 yr. old to reach her books.

We needed a bookshelf to accommodate all of our childrens books, and this fit the bill. Great size for our 3-year-olds bedroom. She has a toddler bed and this sits next to it very nicely.

This bookcases measurements are listed as 40 x 23 x 12, but actual measurements are 39.25 x 21 x 10.5. It is cute and looks pretty sturdy. It has a strong paint odor. Order processing took a week. Delivery took 3 days.
