Why Bother With a Two Position Switch?
Lamplighter from Corvallis, OR– Verified Buyer
I have been trying to find an inexpensive, energy-efficient torchiere lamp to use in rooms that have no built-in overhead lighting fixtures. I bought one a few years ago that had circular flourescent tubes and a dimmer. This worked well enough for a year or two, and then it began to short out and not be reliable. I liked the fact that the lamp had a dimmer, which gave me some control over the amount of light in the room. It finally became unworkable, and after I had it rewired and it was still not reliable, I discarded it and began to look for a new lamp. I was attracted to this torchiere because it was inexpensive, featured two very standard, easily obtainable bulbs, and it claimed to deliver two different levels of lighting. This made sense to me: if there are two bulbs, I assumed it would be wired so that there were three options: one bulb on, two bulbs on, no bulbs on. It sounded theoretically simple and reliable to me. I ordered it, and after assembling it, found that the bulbs are controlled by a very cheap, flimsy, and wobbly rotating switch. The switch has three settings: 1) two bulbs on, 2) two bulbs on at a the identical intensity as the first setting, and 3) no bulbs on.[...] In the end I decided to keep the lamp. It is indeed inexpensive, and I can live with it until the switch breaks. However, I would not recommend it as it was advertised. If you are looking for an inexpensive torchiere that has an on/off switch masquerading as a two-level switch, then this lamp is for you. And, oh yes, did I mention the switch is very wobbly and flimsy? Why couldn't they simply mount a sturdy on/off switch?
Good Product, Modern Look, Wish it was Brighter

This lamp was purchased for a small triangular-shaped consult room in a dental office to give some extra light. Aesthetically the lamp is quite nice. Assembly is easy, though, after putting it together, it was a bit lop-sided. Of course, the corner of the room perhaps isn't flat. It provides nice ambient light, but not the 300 watt equivalent that I'd like, so the only con for me would be that it isn't bright enough.
Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

It was inexpensive and is perfect in the corner of my room. It took a little bit of time to make sure that the poles screwed into each other correctly, but regardless, set up took about 5 minutes. The product also came in 2 business days which was awesome.

Nothing fancy but a great torchiere lamp for the price. The lamp is well constructed and was shipped very quickly.

Needed a stick light for small living room after buying a new love seat & recliner. This was perfect as it takes up no room, looks great and delivers the perfect amount of light with energy saving bulbs. Easy to assemble. Only trouble I've had is the on/off switch cover comes loose, but a tiny dab of glue fixed that easily.
This is junk

Ordered three. One did not even work. The wiring is awful and I would not recommend this to a stranger, let alone a friend.
Best torchiere floor lamp that I own

[...]I now have an excellent floor lamp to fully illuminate an area of a room in which I prefer to do any reading.
Close, but no cigar...

Sorry, but even though it has 2 bulbs and 2 turns of the switch, there is only 1 light setting. Also, the on/off switch is loose and cheaply made. I dont expect this lamp to last very long.

This is basically a very cheaply made lamp. It is very unsteady. The switch for two way lite doesn't work well. I couldn't be more dissatisfied but it is too much of a hassle to return.
