Nice hall tree for the price
ANNA from Blairsville, GA– Verified Buyer
This hall tree arrived very quickly, and was well-packaged. The directions were very clear, and it took my hubby about an hour to put together. It's well-made, and the holes lined up nice, and everything went together well. It's not an heirloom piece, obviously- the pieces are not solid wood, and I'm sure that it won't last forever... But, it is a nice piece for the money, and is definitely a great place for the kids to throw their backpacks when they walk in the door. (Much better than the foyer floor!)

I want to clarify that this piece is NOT antique black. It is solid black. I specifically wanted this piece because it was supposed to be distressed. When I contacted them about the issue with the color, I was told they don't even offer it in antique black. It was a mistake on the website. To date, I see it is still offered for sell as antique black. The customer service was great to work with. I ended up keeping it. I just opened it last night to put it together & was completely disappointed. The instructions are just pictures & not clear on the pieces. I had to take it apart 2 separate times because I used the wrong piece since they look very similar. Also, the backing of the hall tree & bottom of the storage bench is that cheap thin particle board. Very disappointing, especially when the question above says the product is made of wood. The answer should be 1/2 wood & 1/2 particle board. Finally, as I pulled the last board out of the box, it was cracked. After screwing the other pieces to it, it gave under the pressure & split in 2. I used some wood glue to put it back together. Overall, factoring in the discounts I received, it was cheaper than anything else I could have purchased. However, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a good quality piece, I would skip this & pay a few extra bucks for something better.

very stable and looks really nice, but came to me with noticeable chip and scuffmarks. the scuffmarks though were hidden once I hung coats on the hooks. The lid on the bench opens nicely, but is difficult to close and pops loudly making you think you've broken it when closing the lid. all in all a nice piece.
Classy - perfect when reinforced

I bought 3 of these to put in our mudroom. They were fairly easy to assemble and look really nice. The bottom of the chest part is very flimsy but is easily retrofitted with a piece of plywood for durability.

This hall tree looks nice, can hold many coats and with the storage underneath it is very handy. It cannot be sit upon though. My 10 yr old grandson sat on it and the wood near the hinge cracked so that should be noted in the description, what the weight limits are

A nice product for my needs, but it is not a super sturdy item - I can sit on it, but I wouldn't recommend putting much more weight on it. Nice storage. Have two people assemble.

I very pleased with this purchase. I had it sent to my son. He brought it my house and put it together. He DIDN't complain that it was too hard assemble, so I have to presume that it wasn't hard. It looks very nice in my entry way.
Packaging could be improved

Once put together, this hall tree looks great. Seems pretty sturdy. The bench top isn't centered between the sides, which bothers a Type A like myself, but it isn't bad enough to effect the fit.
It is ok
Karen from PA– Verified Buyer
First, it's not antique black as I expected. Second assembly was a pain. I frequently purchase items that have to be assembled and I don't have a problem. This was really a pain. The safety hinges were so hard to close that it was cracking the wood. We couldn't shut the hinges when we removed them, they were so stiff. So we had to assemble without them. I guess it's ok for the price. Not sure I would order it again if I had it to do over.
Sturdy and does the job

I questioned its sturdiness when I was putting it together, but once it was completely built it was sturdy. Instructions are pretty clear. It keeps my first floor from being cluttered with jackets, shoes, and bookbags. I can also hide the stuff that needs to upstairs in the bench until I actually go upstairs in stead of placing those items on the stairs. Overall I'm very happy with the product. I wish it was better quality of furniture instead of the MDF stuff, but then again, at this price point real wood is not what you get.
