Overview
For generations, families have come to cherish this everyday Round French Oven (or Dutch oven, referred by most people). Ideal for simmering, marinating, poaching, braising, and browning; this piece moves from the stove or oven to the table and can store leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer! The tight fitting lid creates a blanket of heat, sealing in flavor and moisture, and is equipped with a phenolic knob which is oven safe up to 375°F. The Le Creuset enameled cast iron pieces evenly spreads heat and retains heat longer than other cookware materials.

Features:
  • Brilliant Cobalt color
  • Lid traps heat and seals in flavor and moisture
  • Phenolic knob is oven safe to 375°F
  • Works well on all heat sources, including induction and oven safe
  • Refrigerator and freezer safe
  • Lifetime limited warranty
Specifications:
  • Material: Enameled cast iron
  • Capacity: 4.5-Quart
  • Cleaning and Care: Dishwasher safe, but handwashing is recommended

I love the Le Creuset line! This is a high-quality piece of cookware that cooks very evenly and is useful for everything from soups to pasta to desserts. It's extremely easy to clean. I've had it for over a year now and it still looks brand-new despite frequent use.

How did we cook before.

Product Review

The French oven is used nearly every day. From stove top to oven for soups, stews, braises, and even deserts. Heavy but manageable with sturdy handles and good balance. Easy to clean, but light-colored interior may stain. Steel handle on cover (enabling use at higher oven temps) should be standard (or provided).

Service Review

Delivery was prompt, and customer service was courteous. Only issue was that the pan was advertised with a bonus additional piece of cookware that was out of stock at the time of order. Vendor vague about how and when the bonus item will be forthcoming.

Can one ever say enough about Le Creuset? Goes everywhere, does everything, the finest quality money can buy. These ovens, my second including the oval 6 3/4 size, inspire creativity in the kitchen and give me the gumption to cook even when I don't really feel like it. Get one, you will become addicted and will want to cook in them everytime!

Product Review

I have had an identical 4.5 quart round French oven made by Le Creuset for thirty years and used it frequently. I bought this beautiful blue one because I needed two, for a variety of dishes I make. The new one is as versatile, sturdy and beautiful. I know I will have it for 30 years. Requires minimum caretaking.

Great for making pot breads!

Service Review

The only complaint I have is that the site doesn't mention until *after* checkout how long the delivery will be. It arrived actually before the estimate, but the estimate was 4 weeks. If I had known that ahead of time I wouldn't have ordered it.

Product Review

I use the pot to prepare large quantities of sauce or soup, for which it is ideal. It is attractive and easy to clean. It is heavy, but it is cast iron. A good product, which I would recommend to others.

Manufacturer Details

From start to finish, Le Creuset is the ingredient that brings every evening together. In kitchens around the world, from acclaimed European eateries to family dinner tables, Le Creuset has been trusted for over 80 years for its legacy of style and quality. Their brilliant colors and user-friendly cookware pieces have created an unforgettable dining experience. The ease of cooking, serving, and storing leftovers in one dish is truly wonderful! Le Creuset has been trusted by those who appreciate every subtle complexity of flavor. Trusted by those who want only the best for their guests and who enjoy food - and life - to the fullest!

Since 1925, Le Creuset has designed and manufactured their Enameled Cast Iron cookware at their foundry in Fresnoy-Le-Grand, Northern France. It began producing Cast Iron by hand-casting molten cast iron in sand molds, still the most delicate stage of the production process. Even today, after casting, each mold is destroyed and the cookware is polished and sanded by hand, then scrutinized for imperfections. Once declared good for enameling, the items are sprayed with two separate coats of enamel and fired after each process at a temperature of 1472°F. The enamel then becomes extremely hard and durable, making it almost completely resistant to damage during normal use. Since much of the finishing is done by hand, each Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron cookware piece is completely unique!
