So I shopped around and I found this table at a dining room furniture store as a 3 piece for [$], then I saw this table alone for [$] at a home outlet store. The outlet store only had this one on display and it was scratched so I opted to check the internet. BINGO! This table is the exact same thing and for the price, I had to get it. I also ordered the X-back chairs that are two tone as well. It matches perfectly. The price for the three piece was still $100 less than the dining room store. [...] When the box arrives you have to assemble the table but it's easy and fairly quick. The wood is sturdy. [...] I do have a four year old boy and sometimes have to remind him not to lean on the leaf part. It's only held up by a wooden slat so you can't treat it like a solid round table. I'd give this product five stars except we only just put it together last night, so one star off cause I can't vouch for it's long-term durability. Still: it's nice 'n sturdy. I don't forsee any problems. Contrary to an earlier review, this table is NOT 42 inches high ("pub height"). It is 36 inches high, or "counter height" and therefore requires chairs/stools 24 to 26 inches tall. Note: typical dining tables are 29 inches high, a good deal shorter! Which is why I went with counter height that aligns perfectly for window seating. At least, in our place it does. Plus, the finish matches our black blinds. Makes for a clean, modern dining nook. Nothing fancy. I love how the table is narrow yet still usable (for two people) when both leaves are down, and then doubles in size when you flip them out. Or you can flip just one of 'em out. So flexible & easy. Also, quite nice to not have extra leaves to store when not in use. This is not a high-end table, of course, so I didn't expect it to be perfect. Came surprisingly close, though. The finish had a few tiny scuffs or imperfections or whatever, around the leaf-hinges. Thirty seconds with a black sharpie, gone. Like I said earlier, sturdy table. Not rickety at all. Storage door level & square, latch on that clicks open & closed firmly without sticking. Much more solid than I'd expected, given the price. My boyfriend put it together with a power drill in less than a half an hour, but then, he's been putting together A LOT of furniture lately so perhaps he's got an edge. Great table! We needed a dining table for our newly completed room which is a second living room but also a alternate place to have dinner, especially in hot weather. So, we needed a table with a low profile but that could also expand to easily fit 8. This table is perfect for our needs. It has one leaf which is easy to remove and it has the two fold down ends. These are especially well designed as when they are extended there is nothing under the table to hit one's leg and the end lies perfectly straight with no gap or angle. [...]Along with the price, it's leading the reasoning for the 4 star review. It was also very easy to assemble by myself (middle aged woman with arthritis)- took maybe 45 minutes but that was because I forgot the kitchen door was so narrow so the top had to be re-placed. D'oh! The finish is not the best I've ever seen but for this price I'm not expecting a masterpiece. Also, I do have the ability to do touch-up painting should it ever be required. This is a bright white on the pedestal and should be easy to match. I did consider going with a butterfly leaf system rather than the separate leaf but I think this will work best for me as I am using the table in a small kitchen in a dining nook and the 38" round top is perfect for when it's just me or me and one guest. This table would easily seat 4 but I chose this one because the leaf is 22" making a 60" long oval when I host family dinners 3 times a year. The infrequency of the larger parties made the decision to have to find a place to store the 22" leaf an easier one. Over all- I searched for months for an attractive pedestal table at a reasonable price. This table fit every criteria I had."..."  Read more
