The descriptions says upholstered but it is a leather look vinyl. The chair is very comfortable. It is described as a side chair. I use mine as a desk chair. The only drawback for that is that it doesn't have wheels. I have a small space though and this works for me since the chair swivels. delivery on chairs was great, one was recieved with a couple of chips on legs by the casters, I reported it to you and you sent me a touch-up kit, worked great. Now we have noticed color on one of the chairs on the arms is coming off, arms are starting to get down to the primar white, looks terrible, I cant use your touch up kit on this one.
