I, like many others, researched chairs as other dining room chairs I bought as part of a dining room set from a large furniture chain started falling apart piece by piece and coming loose and cracking. Not so with these. The fact that they require some assembly (which is easy) means that you have control over the the quality and build. I recently remodelled my kitchen and was looking for new furniture for the breakfast nook. I found the perfect table at a furniture store, but didn't like the chairs (or their price) that were supposed to go with it. After searching online, I found these chairs and thought I'd order a pair to try. These exceeded my expectations! They are a very sturdy chair once put together--a process that took about 20 minutes per chair. I was planning to add seat cushions to them, but so far have found them comfortable enough to not require it. A couple of warnings: They are a flat black color, not a glossy finish. That's exactly what I wanted, but there may be prospective buyers who are looking for gloss. Also, the seat is deep. My 6'2" husband finds it comfortable, and I'm fine with it at 5'5", but my 10-year-old twins are unable to sit all the way back and lean against the chairback without having their legs sticking straight out in front of them. They complain the chairs are uncomfortable, but a couple of years and a growth spurt will fix that problem. I bought 4 chairs for my dining room and they are very nice looking. It was not difficult to assemble and everything together fit correctly. They are bigger than what I thought but I didn't measure before purchasing. Although, they are larger than expected they still fit my dining room table (seats 6) and look very nice.
