Kitchen Sinks

We purchased this sink to replace a 50 year old porcelain over cast iron double bowl sink in a complete kitchen renovation with neutral colors. The beige, almost tan, color has very small flecks of rust but mostly you see the beautiful neutral tone. Complements the venetian bronze faucet perfectly. We put a compact disposal in the large side, and purchased matching oil rubbed bronze drainers/strainer baskets for both sides. Be aware that the drain in the large sink is offset to the upper left which will affect where the garbage disposal and attendant plumbing will be under the sink. It did affect where we could put our trash can and cleaning supplies. The Swanstone has one bowl which is much deeper than any I have used before, and is wider than our previous sink. I wonder if it may be too deep for a shorter stature person to comfortably use for long periods of time. It is about the right height for me at 5'5 but that's just my opinion. I do not spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I would have preferred a sink with more rounded corners for ease in cleaning, but aside from that small grumble the sink is easy to clean with simple rinsing. I would recommend not allowing food to remain in the sink, but small stains from leftover food product are easily removed by swiping with an "eraser" type sponge product. You can hide a lot of dishware in the sink without it being visible from a distance - perfect for collecting dishes during extended dining. I haven't used the smaller sink as my main rinse sink, as some reviewers do, because I do not use a countertop dish drainer on our new granite. I have found a small collapsible, expandable (front to back) plastic dish drainer to fit in that side. My sink is one of the best things about our new kitchen. Brief history: We were looking for a sink which is not the boring standard sink. While searching the internet, found this sink which looks different and is not expensive. After few weeks for research and trying to locate the sink from a local distributors who gave up trying to find the sink, I finally took the courage to order [...]. The sink doesn't look fragile, but based on reviews, I was extra careful while handling the sink. The fabricators did mention that granite sinks can break during shipping or rough handling. The sink looks great and appears huge compared to our existing sink which is of the same dimensions. The sink was made in India. [...]. Fabrication/Installation: When the sink is glued to the countertop, there is a small gap which was filled with black paste (no idea what was used, but it's glossy) Due to the counter top thickness of 1.5" and the sink of .25", majority of airgaps and faucets won't work. We we lucky with the faucet, but had to customize the airgap. The sink was so deep that the disposer outlet was about 1" higher than the drain and if it was deeper, I might have to change the plumbing. Overall impression : It looks great and hides the dirty dishes as it's so deep. So far no stains from water. The Swanstone's website has CAD files of the sink and you should see them to be impressed. The Kraus sink is much better quality than the Elkay sink that I had originally bought. This sink is 16 gauge stainless steel which is thicker than a standard sink. This sink cost less than the Elkay which was only 18 gauge. It also included a stainless steel basket strainer and protective grid. Excellent value."..."  Read more

We ordered this sink after pricing the same style of sinks locally. We waiting 12 days as it had to clear customs at the Canadian border. I loved the fact that we could track the sink online and knew exactly where it was at any given time. The sink arrived very well packed and crated, the sink itself came in a large soft bag to protect it, then in heavy styrofoam and a wooden crate. It is absolutely stunning.. Our kitchen was a total makeover and with the white granite counter tops and white cabinets this sink is a stunner. We had it professionally installed by a plumber who had no issues with. We also installed a beautiful chrome industrial hose faucet.. Similar sinks in Eastern Canada run close to 2000.00. With shipping and duty taxes we paid just over 600.00.
