First, this island was what I'd consider expensive (I'm a tightwad, sorry). So I really debated before springing for this one, but kitchen space is precious and this one had all the features I wanted - drawer, shelf, towel rack (in that order) and all work beautifully. The most surprising thing about this island is the build quality. This thing seems to glow in my kitchen - something indescribable, but it draws you in and everyone that comes into my kitchen seems to feel a need to start touching the top. I can't explain it. It is silky smooth natural wood and the base is so heavy and solid. I use this in the kitchen for food prep. and I'm what you'd call a "heavy user". This beast is holding up without breaking a sweat. I did notice the top got a little rough after a few weeks so I borrowed some paper and gave it a little sanding and added more mineral oil - back in action. For something I use almost everyday and probably will for the rest of my life, this island turned out to be a bargain."..."  Read more

Replaces a built-in kitchen island that we tore out when remodeling our kitchen. We chose this table because we were used to eating at the old island and this table has counter height with enough overhang to accommodate two diners. The butcher block top and sturdy construction make it a very nice addition to our newly remodeled kitchen.
