Kitchen Islands & Serving Carts

This kitchen island is spectacular. I recently had granite countertops and new backsplash put into my kitchen. I had a space in my kitchen that needed a large scale kitchen island and I chose to purchase one instead of having one built in. There is a video on Youtube that shows you all the features this island has. It has a removable knife rack that allowed me to store all my knives and toss the round knife rack on the counter. I use the ends of the island to display books, standing them upright so the pretty covers show instead of storing spices like the photo shows. I had a lot of contractors in and out of my house during the remodel and most thought this was a built in island as it is "furniture/cabinet" quality and not some little junky kitchen cart. Every single construction worker/contractor raved about the island and wanted to know where I got it. If the color scheme and size fit your kitchen I highly recommend this island. I also love the fact I can fit two bar stools under one side, I did not purchase the matching bar stools in the photo, I already had some that had a high back and they look great. Love this cart. I'd been looking for months for a good cart with the features I wanted at a reasonable price. Found this one and based on the other reviews, decided to order it. Keeping in mind the other reviews about the so-so instructions, I tasked my husband and 11 yo son with assembly. They put it together in about two hours. The primary comments on assembly were that the instructions weren't clear about which end was up on some of the pieces since they could begin to be assembled in either direction, and that hand held power tools are your friend. Otherwise, the casters have not given me problems as is commented in some other reviews. The quality of the pieces seems to be well above the price point for the cart. The wood does have some sort of urethane finish on it that makes the water bubble on the surface though I wouldn't necessarily test it by leaving water sitting since the cart is made from wood. The magnets for the doors hold quite well and the drawer slides seem to be snug but smooth. The shelves inside the two door sections do have three levels for height selection. A nice touch for adjusting to store different height items. The towel role removes quite easily but we haven't used it yet because the baby would love to unroll a fresh paper towel roll but it does function superbly as another towel rack. You can't have too many of those in a kitchen. The spice rack has another rod underneath for hanging towels or hooks for maybe potholders. I was looking for a small island that would fit in my kitchen and provide a bit more counter space so two people could work in the kitchen at the same time. The measurements in the ad were good. Height and size of top were good. The island took quite a while to put together, but a call to the service department was all I needed when I got stuck. The island provides the room I needed with a good cutting and prep surface. It has good storage. It is movable, with wheels below, but is heavy and sturdy enough to stay in one place. I use this cart for my George Forman Grill.I don't have space in my kitchen where I can leave it out.I put it on top of the cart in a spare room next to the kitchen & wheel it into the kitchen when I want to use it.I use it more often now.I am very happy with it.Also the extra cabinet space is much needed.It's wonderful."..."  Read more
