After extensive research for an island butcher block table, I selected this one & am very pleased.[...] is exactly what I needed. I did have my handy man assemble it & he had no problems. I left off the hooks & placed the utensils in one of the drawers as I thought it would easy to catch on them...only a personal preference. I use it as a "transfer" station between my refrigerator & sink saving many steps back & forth. I did buy Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner to treat the top which I'm told will help keep it from scratching & staining. The drawers & bottom shelf are very handy. I couldn't be more pleased. First, this island was what I'd consider expensive (I'm a tightwad, sorry). So I really debated before springing for this one, but kitchen space is precious and this one had all the features I wanted - drawer, shelf, towel rack (in that order) and all work beautifully. The most surprising thing about this island is the build quality. This thing seems to glow in my kitchen - something indescribable, but it draws you in and everyone that comes into my kitchen seems to feel a need to start touching the top. I can't explain it. It is silky smooth natural wood and the base is so heavy and solid. I use this in the kitchen for food prep. and I'm what you'd call a "heavy user". This beast is holding up without breaking a sweat. I did notice the top got a little rough after a few weeks so I borrowed some paper and gave it a little sanding and added more mineral oil - back in action. For something I use almost everyday and probably will for the rest of my life, this island turned out to be a bargain."..."  Read more

I was looking for a small island that would fit in my kitchen and provide a bit more counter space so two people could work in the kitchen at the same time. The measurements in the ad were good. Height and size of top were good. The island took quite a while to put together, but a call to the service department was all I needed when I got stuck. The island provides the room I needed with a good cutting and prep surface. It has good storage. It is movable, with wheels below, but is heavy and sturdy enough to stay in one place. I had been looking for a kitchen island cart with a garbage bin for some time when I came across this one. The assembly was not that difficult. It did take some time and I could see that if someone jumped ahead then things could get very confusing, but I finished in under two hours. The top drawer is made of some seemingly flimsy material that you glue together, but it seems to be holding up just fine. Overall this cart is exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. The one thing that I don't really like about this cart is the cutting board material used. I know it is a cheap cart, but my top is warped already even with regular oiling. I plan on replacing it someday as the construction would make this very easy to do."..."  Read more
