I Love, Love, Love my new kitchen cart!!!!!
I have wanted one of these but didn't want to spend a lot of money and wasn't sure if one would overwhelm my small-medium kitchen. I found this cart discounted under the "sale" tab on this site (don't bother looking there because this was the only one). :-) It had been returned and was being sold at half price because it was considered defective. It has a small dent in the stainless steel. The dent is on the lip of one of the short sides of the counter top and will never be noticed by anyone. Also, one of the dowels had broken off inside the hole and I had to drill it out and one of the door magnets is broken. I will fix that whenever I get to it. It was definitely worth the extra time for the price I paid. Even if I had paid the going price for this cart, I would be happy. It is well built and attractive and it is obvious the company who constructed it takes pride in their products. I am sure the only reason my cart was returned to WayFair was it sustained the above mentioned damage in shipping. I have seen a delivery driver actually tossing a heavy box "end-over-end" along the ground until at the customer's front door. No amount of packaging can prevent damage when this happens. Anyway, the measurements make this seem as if it will be huge, but it doesn't seem to be once assembled.
Do not be afraid by the item picture. The photo shown is a bad representation of this cart; it appears to be fire engine red, but it is more of a deeper, darker red (what I would call barn red). I had checked another site and saw a picture of this cart as a deeper red and so I was crossing my fingers the darker red cart would be what arrived at my house. My kitchen has black and stainless appliances and I have many red items on the countertops such as a red coffee pot. I also have a red checkered valance on the kitchen window and so this cart blended things together as I thought it would. I am so happy! I have noticed that when the evening sun shines through my kitchen window and directly on the side of my cart, it does appear brighter as in the photo, but in normal kitchen lighting, this is a beautiful darker red color. I assembled this myself (38 year old female), but I am pretty handy... I hang ceiling fans, light fixtures and have put a lot of boxed furniture together in the past. Every item is marked with a number and arrow, so if you follow the directions, you should be fine. This did take me quite a bit longer than expected, but I took my time watching television and laughing at my cats who were having fun climbing on and in the empty box (and getting styrofoam all over themselves). :-) Oh, this reminds me... if you are an environmentally conscious person (and hopefully you are), you will be recycling styrofoam until your next birthday. :-) Anyway, I was in no rush and enjoyed myself as I put my new cart together. The two top drawers are not deep at all but I want the things in the cart to be very organized; I don't want a lot of stuff dumped in the drawers - good thing because the design doesn't allow for this. I have everything lined up side by side and when I open the drawers it reminds me of the T.V. show "Monk." :-) I have a normal-sized kitchen (for a 25 year old home) and have plenty other drawers to put stuff in. If you don't you may want a cart with deep junk drawers. The side "spice rack" is narrow but I was able to put a decorative pump sprayer for olive oil, a pepper grinder and 4 small glass spice bottles in mine and it looks so nice. :-) A lot of carts do not have doors and your mess is seen by everyone and it gives the kitchen a cluttered feel. I like the fact this cart has cabinet doors and whatever you decide to store there is hidden. The middle double-cabinet door opens to a large space with a movable shelf. A large appliance such as a Kitchen Aid mixer would easily go here. The door on either side of the cart gives way to a narrower space for smaller items and again, they all have a movable shelf (just move the metal pegs to adjust the height of the shelf). I have been lining the shelves with protective shelf-liner and so have not loaded the cabinets yet with a lot of stuff, but this is a solid piece of furniture and is sturdy and I am sure will handle whatever larger/heavier items I decide to place inside. I do not have a lot of counter top space and I love this cart for its stainless steel top. I have only been using this for a few days and don't know how the top will stand up to the test of time, but as with anything stainless steel, I will need to be careful not to scratch it. This cart has really added to the attractiveness of a kitchen I thought already looked good. :-) I keep walking into my kitchen and staring at my cart. Since I got this cart, I have been looking Online for a hanging pot/pan rack to go above it - there are some beautiful ones and it is hard to decide. Best of luck to you all in your search for the right kitchen cart. I hope I have provided some useful info. Also, this was the first item I purchased from WayFair. Along with the cart, I purchased some hummingbird feeders, a bamboo window shade and some jewelry organizers and everything arrived quickly and in great condition. I have since ordered a kitchen light for my parents' house. I will be back for more... maybe a pot/pan rack. :-)"..." Read more
