About the Designer
Philippe Starck France (1949 - )
He remembers having spent his childhood under his father's drawing tables, passing hours stitching, cutting, gluing and grinding, disassembling bicycles, motorbikes and other objects. Endless hours, an entire life spent dismantling and reassembling anything that fell into his hands, reconstructing his surrounding world. He continues to shake the traditions and culture of the world's major cities, with the interior design of the restaurant at Hong Kong's Peninsula Hotel (1994), the Teatron in Mexico (1995), the Delano Hotel a Miami (1995), the Modrian in Los Angeles (1996), the Asia de Cuba restaurant in New York (1997), as well as an entire series of ongoing projects in London and elsewhere. His skill lies in being able to transform instantly the object of the commission into a place filled with charm, pleasure and encounters. He tirelessly modifies everyday life, exalting the deepest roots of existence in his changes. His increasing fascination with life has now led him to create clothes, underwear, footwear, glasses, food, and always with the conviction that his design respects nature and the future of humankind. In the exhibits of museums all around the world, in Paris, New York, Munich, London, Chicago, Kyoto and Barcelona, his work is considered to be that of a master. He has received numerous prizes and awards: designer of the year, the Oscar de luminaire (1980), the title of Officier des Artes et des Lettres (1985), Compasso d'Oro ADI (2001), Show Boats in Munich (2003), and many others.

Love my chairs!
Samara from Fairfax, VA– Verified Buyer
I wanted something a little funky and colorful for my kitchen chairs. I ordered these in the Mustard color. They are a bit more green then I expected, I think I was expecting more of a bright yellow, but I still love them. And they are actually quite comfortable to sit on and look great in my kitchen! Our old chairs were upholstered which did not work well with a toddler and another baby on the way. Love that I can just wipe these down and down have to worry about stains or food mushed in.
Very elegant chairs!

I bought these chairs for a new restaurant one of my clients just opened. I bought them in different colors and they look so cool. They defenitely are an eye catcher, plus although they look delicate, they are actually very sturdy. Plus, they were designed by Phillipe Starck who in fact is the designer of thw building the restaurant is at, so it was kind of a statement having these chairs as part of my design/project.

I got 2 black and 2 white for a modern dining room. One of the chairs was defective but we receive a replacement right away. They are sooo comfortable for a plastic chair! Just note that the white ones may get dirty from jeans, we had to use pads on them because they were getting blue stains. Other then that they were perfect!

Very comfortable and absolutely compliments my decor - transitional. It adds that special panache to my living area and gives it just the right contemporary feel I was looking for. Chairs are sturdy yet light weight. I showed my daughter who lives in NYC a photo of these chairs and she told me that there was an original chair on exhibit in MOMA! Crazy! I feel like I own a piece of history and art! LOVE!!!!

Just information wise...This chair is selling for 20$ in China ("http://deaofurniture.en.alibaba.com/product/60095827935-800245767/HOT_Home_furniture_plastic_Dining_chair.html")...at least to give some respect to a manufacturer...

So easy to clean
Jessica from Chandler, AZ– Verified Buyer
I purchased 4 of these chairs because I was sick of trying to clean my upholstered ones, I have a 6 year old and 19 month old. I love how easy these are to wipe down and even though they are not padded, they are very comfortable.

Absolutely unique and comfortable! We paired with a teak top table with hammered metal frame and the look is stunning. Hubby is a big man and sits comfortably. Also a plus is that the chairs do not scratch our wood floors.
