The lift mechanism works flawlessly: its easy to raise and lower (I oiled the hinges to ease the lifting) for elderly and young child. It stays at any height, doesn't creep down from any raised position. Use for laptop computer as well as snacking while watching TV. Couldn't ask for any improvements...NO negatives. Was this helpful? SVCs opinion from San Antonio, TX	4.0 1/4/2010 Very nice & sturdy lift top table Product Review Great for the livingroom or game room, works well as lifted top for laptop or for eating and looks like a regular coffee table when in the down position. Service Review 1st table arrived damaged, but functional. The customer service was very good, they said I'd get a new table delivered to replace the damaged table, and w/in 10 days I had the new one. They never required the return of the original damaged table, so I was able to use it even though it isn't right, better put it to use than in the landfill.
