I needed a foam roller to exercise my back muscles. The one offered through my therapist was a simple white foam, which I thought would start to crack or chip over time. I'm very pleased with this product because it has a "rubbery" coating which I feel will contribute to it's longevity. My only criticism is that the manufacturer should offer a slightly longer length (maybe 42"?) because tall people have bad backs too!! :-)

It's very firm and retains it's round form. I had no problem using it on my sore back but I had to control my weight on it for my sore legs form the sides. Just what I was looking for to slowly ease into foam-rolling. This roller's firmness is just right for my larger-than-average body. While I am unable to do the full range of foam-rolling exercises I can now easily roll areas of my back and neck as well as some minimal rolling of the arms and legs. This roller meets my current needs and will no doubt continue to meet and surpass them as I become stronger and work my way up to more challenging areas.
